there has to be a reason. Get to the bottom of it. Maybe they didn't calculate some right and now they noticed the error. Could be that they didn't calculate the taxes or mortgage tax. Just get a good explanation.

this happen to us too and it was a miscalculation. We wound up getting more money back at closing then we thought in the end.

$$$#'s get thrown around a lot. I think we got our final estimate the day before. DH got a check the morning of the closing.
Then at the closing we ended up owing an extra $150.
Regardless what they say today...bring your checkbook tomorrow.

and we ended up overpaying by $1,500

We had to pay for the oil in the tank, an extra $300 or something at closing. Bring your check book, but for the amt you're stating, it sounds like taxes.

it probably is taxes.
since we closed 12/22, and the tax bill was due 12/1 - the title co wasnt sure if it was paid or not, so we had to pay for the 6 monts upfront, and then the sellers had to pay US back for the 22 days. so stupid.

there are a lot of reasons.. taxes, title fees, mortgage tax, ask for a copy of the Prelim HUD before closing!!!!

i do have "mad" money... about $2300, so i know we have it.
dh drives me crazy with text messages like that.
