Those of you who had a m/c

Did it start with brown blood? My MD gave me the choice of waiting for a natural miscarriage or scheduling a D&C for early next week. I decided that if nothing happens this weekend, I want to go ahead with the D&C. I've been having brown spotting the last few days - I don't know if this is the start of the miscarriage. I always thought it was a lot of red blood - this is literally what you would get right before AF. Any thoughts? TIA

I am so sorry you are going through this. I personally did not bleed or loose the baby naturally. I was very ill during my pregnancy and went to see the high risk specialist that day. when I went for my internal there was no heartbeat and longer. I had just seen the babies heart rate a week before that during my hospital stay. I was scheduled for a D&C right away (the next morning). I was told i could nto try for at least 3 months after the surgery. It was over before I knew it. emotionally it still hurts, but have healed 100% physically. Again, I am so sorry. I wouldnt want to weigh this decision the way you have. I was given an option as well, but opted to get it over with knowing the baby was goneChat Icon

Thank you for responding. To me, the spotting seems like what I would get if I was still pregnant - so I have no idea if I'm starting to miscarrying naturally.

can you get back into the dr.s today? I'd call them and keep them posted on everything. Good luck.

I just spoke to the MD - she said, it could progress into natural but may not. And they finally scheduled my D&C and it's not til a week from today!! UGHHHChat Icon

Re: Those of you who had a m/c

I had a m/c in June at 10.5 weeks and only had a little bit of blood - I think it was pink/red. I called my doctor immediately because I had some cramping, too. I went right to the hospital & they did a sono. I also had "lost" all my symptoms from the previous weeks (sore boobs, nausea, etc.) so I was told this was a sign as well. The sono showed the baby stopped developing about a week earlier. They did a D&C right then & there.

I was told to wait 2 cycles after the D&C before trying again & conceived again in August.

From what I have read, though, brown blood is old blood & not usually a problem. Good luck.

Re: Those of you who had a m/c

I have had a different experience. Mine always started with pink spotting almost like CM tinged with pink. Then about 4-5 days later turned into medium blood flow for about 1 week. Then I actually passed tissue and bled for another 2 weeks. I seem to hold on to pregnancies though. I have had to get methotrexate twice to get my levels down. I DON'T think that is the norm.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Yes, I started spotting dark brown so I thought nothing of it and that went on for about 2 weeks before it turned bright red and the cramping started which lead me to believe I was starting to miscarry.
