talking time off for sonos
Anyone else need to take time off for ultrascreens, sonos, etc. I feel like I already took a bunch of days off and I feel terrible. I took 2 tuesdays consecutively for the ultrascreen (the first one the baby wasn't cooperating) and not I have to take another on in april for the 2nd part of the ultrascreen. I would do whatever it takes for this baby but I'm afraid to be using all these days. None of the other pregnant future mommies at my school have to do this. Anyone else running into this problem?

Re: talking time off for sonos
I have to see my OB and the high risk doc once a week now on top of my weekly sonos.
I try and schedule first thing in the am and work after or at night.

Re: talking time off for sonos
I only took a day appt for my 1st sono at 8 wks. I had such bad pain that I could not wait to see them.
I schedule all my appts on the evening. My work is already giving me a lot of grief just for not feeling good because I am PG.

Re: talking time off for sonos
I would of had to take off today for my ultrascreen but I was put on bedrest for bleeding (I go back to work tomorrow). All my other appts w/my normal doctor can be done after work. I may have to take off for my level II in a few weeks. The baby is more important than work!!

Re: talking time off for sonos
Well the sonos are scheduled for after 6 so that is fine, but my regular monthly dr. appts I always have to leave work (school) early for. I do feel bad, but their last appt is at 315 & I have to leave school in Queens & drive out to West Islip...it's only going to get worse when my appts change to bi-monthly & then weekly, but my principal has been great about it.

Re: talking time off for sonos
You're lucky you're principal is cool with everything. It's like a big deal in my school to take off, eventhough that's why we have personal/sick days. The baby and our health IS more important than work. I just hate the dirty looks and the rolling of the eyes.

Re: talking time off for sonos
I never took off for an sono or an appt (at least until i had to stop working) and I have been high risk, seeing the doctor every two weeks since 8 weeks pg and every week after week 30. I just scheduled several appt's in advanced. Sometimes, I had appt's lined up for two months.
I explained to them that I was a teacher and couldn't take time off because we were working w/o a contract. The doc office was very understanding. So all appts were after 3 pm and yes, my doc's office is a hike from both my job and home. My BF had a crazy, and inflexible work schedule, and she scheduled all of her major appts at the beginning of her pregnancy.
Maybe your doc's office will be willing to do that.

Re: talking time off for sonos
I work in the NYC and so I need late appts (after 630) I did have to take time off as I need to see both the doctor and have my sonos done by the Dr and not a tech b.c there is a possible complication that they are monitoring closely. If I leave earlier than around 4 or come in later than 10 they make me take a vacation day.

Re: talking time off for sonos
I have this issue too and my work is really jerky about it. They perinatology office I go to opens at 8am, so I schedule the appointments for a close to 8 as possible. After my ultrascreen, I was at work at about 11am (9am appointment) and after my level II I was at work by 10am after my 8am appointment. My next sono is at 8:15am next friday.
I've never missed work for anything else tho, my dr appointments are at 7pm and when I took the one hour test, I took it before work and the 3 hour on a day I had off.

Re: talking time off for sonos
I took the day off for my NT and Level II but otherwise my doctor has been great with late appts. I usually go around 6:45pm or 7:45pm. Today I have a growth sono but I am going to be working from the LI office and just leave early. I have been worried about time off too. But these tests and things are important.

Re: talking time off for sonos
I am currently a SAHM, but when I was PG with my first, I never had to take off work for appointments. My doctor has evening hours 2 nights a week, and Saturday hours too.
Sorry you are getting dirty looks

Re: talking time off for sonos
I have gone in late to work for our level 2 aqnd growth sono. My boss is awesome about it. She doesn't even count me as coming in late. I make all my ob appts for after work though.

Re: talking time off for sonos
I either go in the morning and come in late to work, or in the late afternoon and leave work early - I never had to miss a full day of work....
