How many offers before you got the one?

How many offers did you put in on houses that were turned down before you finally had one accepted? DH and I just lost a house we really wanted to a cash buyer and I'm so frustrated by it. Just wondering what to expect!!

We were declined entirely by one (but three if you count houses that we went back and forth on, ended up with an accepted offer, and then the deal fell through.)

For the one that we lost entirely, we were told they already had an offer of 9K below asking and the buyer was already approved for a mortgage. In today's market, I have no idea why they didn't just accept that (we thought it was BS), but I probably won't understand until I'm in a seller's shoes.

We made our first offer a few months ago on one and it was accepted but we declined b/c we realized it was a huge money pit. (Basement walls were caving in and would be about $30K to fix it---just wasnt worth it).

Our 2nd offer we made about a month later was accepted and we will be moving into that one in May

We put bids on three homes before getting an offer accepted.

We made an offer on only one house. We went back and forth once and settled on a price.

1st we were low balling

2nd we were outbid

3rd was a low ball that was initially accepted but we could not get to the contracts and inspection for a week because we were going on vac - we came home to a 30,000 counter offer and declined.

4th We Got It and are so glad things worked out the way they did!

We've put in two bids and one was accepted and one was countered (and countered too high).

I expect to get through 4 bids until we land the right house at the right price.

The first house we put an offer in on was accepted. In hindsight, we probably could have bid lower, but i didnt want to take a chance that we would lose our house.

We put in 8 offers - 2 were accepted. We backed out of the first one and negotiated the second one (the house we bought).

The other 6 offers - we were outbid. Three houses went well over asking price - the other three sat on the market for a long, long, long time.

ever think about making cash offer? although dishonest, we did.

We are on offer #4 and our fingers are crossed that it will be our last.

We had an offer in on a house when we saw the one we ended up getting. The offer we had in kept being put off with 'issues' but really the sellers were just seeing what else would come in. We ended up withdrawing after a week + of haggling with them and I'm so glad we did!!

First but then again most people wouldn't have touched this house with a ten foot poll... it needed so much work.

We bid very low but still got it because the owner was getting desperate and most people don't want to take on such a huge project.

One on the house we bought--maybe we were lucky. We also gave them a fair offer I think, it is a nice house and it was priced well for the area.

On our co-op (which we are trying to sell) we have had 3 offers. One buyer pulled out after sitting on the contract for a couple weeks. Another offer was insultingly low, and the third was also low, though we countered and never heard back from them.
