Would you switch?

When I first got pg, I went for the bloodwork and everything was fine, except the sono read that I was less along than we thought. The doc said either it was that I ovulated later or that the baby wasn't developing.

Then we went back 1 week later, fully expecting additional bloodwork to double check, since the sono came back fine. The nurse said it wasn't necessary, and I didn't insist. MY MISTAKE

Then, a few weeks later, another sono indicated that, indeed, there was no growth, and I had a D&C.

SO, now that you have the info, would you stay with the same doc, knowing that they could have prevented the additional weeks of thinking you were pg, telling your whole family, giving you false hope? Or would you stay and make sure you insist on every measure possible be taken?

Advice!

Not pg yet, but weighing the options.

There is no way I could stay with an MD after that.

I'm not sure how i would feel to be completely honest. I would be upset that i shared the news with all of my family, only to have to tell them that I lost the baby.

Do you like the doctor otherwise? if so, I would stay with them. If you are indifferent or don't like them otherwise, I would switch.

I have been with him for a long time and have had other pretty major stuff done with him. I just feel like I will constantly be worrying.....

Well - to be honest i think that you will be worrying with a new doctor too. i think you need to determine which you think you will be more comfortable with. Someone entirely new, or someone who has lost your trust...... I think that i might go tiwht someone new that was highly recommended by a friend that had complications with pregnancy....

I would.
I'd really want a 'cautious' doctor rather than doing the minimum one.

Re: Would you switch?

What did happen on your second visit. Was there a sono? Did they then see growth? Or did they never really see growth? That would make a difference for me.

There was growth at the 2nd sono, just no bloodwork, which the nurse said after I asked..... "what for?"

What for? WHAT FOR? What the hell do you think for?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The doc said he had to ask the nurse if I was getting blood drawn....Chat Icon

I have a feeling that the bloodwork would have been normal at that point. But for the doctor to ask the nurse what was going on....I could never tolerate that. Maybe it's just that you have an instinct that this is not the right doctor for you, regardless of whether they took blood that day.

Re: Would you switch?

I would probably switch. You shouldn't have to MAKE your doctors do things, they should automatically take every step possible to ensure the baby is developing properly.
