How Accurate Are Your Temps?
In TCCOYF they really stress when and how to take your temp but I rarely get to stay in bed and temp. I usually get up and go into the bathroom to take my temp because it beeps every 5 seconds and I don't want to wake DH. Sometimes I even pee first. And, it's so rare that I ever get 3 hours sleep at a time. I'm always waking up and falling back asleep. Does this really alter my temps?

Re: How Accurate Are Your Temps?
It is crucial that you do not move (ie get up, talk, anything) before you take your temp.
Temping is ONLY accurate if it is your waking temp - your waking temp means relatively the same time each morning, and before you do anything else.
IMO, if you get up to take it, you may as well not take it at all b/c it's so inaccurate once you get up.

Re: How Accurate Are Your Temps?
Really? It's only about 5-10 seconds from the time I wake up to the time I walk to the bathroom and take my temp. That s*cks if this month was a waste.

I agree!!!
Your 10 second walk to the bathroom will alter your temperatures significantly....
It is very important to take temps as soon as you open your eyes (before you even move) and at the same time each day...otherwise you will not get an accurate reading....

Re: How Accurate Are Your Temps?
ive learned on these boards that it matters alot - and you can see on my chart -- the days that i didnt not take my temp at the same time (7:30 am) - like the weekends the temps were way off and showed inaccurate data on my chart!

I also agree. As soon as I wake up, I reach for the thermometer.

When you say waking up and falling back asleep - are you fully awake where you get up and pee, or are you sort of awake where you just roll over and go back to sleep???
If you are the get out of bed to pee type - you MUST temp before you get up out of bed.
If you just sort of wake and then roll over and go back to sleep, I wouldn't be too concerned.
However, you should never ever get out of bed and pee before temping. As an experiment you should take your temp as soon as you wake, then pee and take it again. You'll see how off the temps are. I tried that to see and I get anywhere from 1/2 to a full degree difference.
