Who Says That??????????????
Last night, someone that is very close to DH said to me re: TTC and I quote "be careful what you wish for". Said individual then continued on to say he and his wife had a house "already" (DH & I do not), and that if it was meant to be it would happen, and I should stop trying to force it and just let nature take its course! 
I suppose I should be grateful that he didn't tell me to just "relax".

What that person said was the equivalent of "just relax." Also, this is someone who needed to rub your face in the fact that he has a house. Tell him that you don't give a flying **** what he has.

I am also sorry they said this to you. I know how it feels.
I have been reading this for a couple of days now and it makes me wonder. When people say "be careful what you wish for," they make it seem as if they regret having all of the BLESSINGS in life.
When I was single, my married friends and family members used to complain unmercifully about their spouses, saying things like - "...marriage ain't all it's cracked up to be...."
When they have kids, they say things like "...you sure you want kids after you just saw mine do draw on my freshly painted faux suede walls with indelible ink?"
If all of these things are so troublesome to people, perhaps THEY need to re-think things. Raising children and instilling a sense of discipline is one of the most difficult things a parent or guardian can do. There is an endless amount of strength involved in parenting, but to say things to people that you think would dissuade them from having children altogether is almost hurtful. Some of us cannot wait to see our kids make a mess out of Spaghetti-O's all over our white kitchens (ok my kitchen isn't white but I was trying to make a point.)
