Yes, we went through that period... We've been TTC for over a year now, so it can get routine. We can actually laugh about it now, we use to be a little stressed. DH laughs and asks " will it ever be the same again?? "
So no it's not always passionate, but we've found a way to keep some humor in it.
It will all be worth it in the end!!

I think its totally normal to go through this, and many do. We are and we haven't 'officially' started trying yet.
I already told my DH, he is a sperm donor and better perform! kidding of course, but truth is there.
practicing is always more fun than trying!
