PLEASE help; question

Although I have officially been lurking, we are not trying yet and I'm still on Yasmin. Um...how possible is it to get preg on the pill? I am probably overreacting but AF is due Wednesday. Well, for the past week I have been so suddenly and randomly stomach sick and headache ridden. Also, my (TMI) discharge or CM if you will is very clear and runny....now, this could just be a bug or it could just mean a really bad AF month...hey, if it happened it's in God's plan but what worries me is that the past 2 weeks I've probably had 5 glasses of wine total. This week is when I began to think...what if? And so now I'm scared that if I by some random chance I am, I've been drinking. And with disability in the family this would NOT be good. Sorry; I sound loco!

Re: PLEASE help; question

I wouldn't react just yet Chat Icon There is always a possibility of pregnancy, even on the pill, but chances are slim to none. (I have a friend that got pg twice on the pill!)

As far as drinking the wine, even if you were pg, you should be fine, you would not yet be sharing blood with the baby.

Thank you! I sound ridiculous...LOL. But I feel so off. Probably just allergies mixed in with PMS.

your chances of getting prego on the pill are extremely small - like 1%. but it's not unheard of. your chances increase if you've missed doses.

hope this works out however you want it to Chat Icon

Re: PLEASE help; question

I don't have the same family history that you do, but my Dr. is not at all concerned about things I may do before I learn I am PG. My dermatologist agreed w/ my doctor when I asked him about the medications he prescribes for my million and 2 skin conditions!

Re: PLEASE help; question

Don't worry yourself about the wine!
My doctor didn't even give me a prescription for prenatals right away because there is so little connection between the mother and child so early on in the pregnancy!
Try not to stress yourself out - that's worse for your body than the wine would be! Chat Icon

I don't mean to highjack the post but this concerns me....
I use Yasmin and do not use any other form of BC. The only time I will is if I know that I took the pill later than usual. I've never missed one though, I always take it when I remember. That makes me nervous b/c we are not ready to TTC yet and if I get preggo, Dh will be upset b/c he relys on me to be on top of these things. He was soooo upset with me when I told him that the pill is less effective if you are vommitting.I was really sick about two weeks ago and about 4 days later, we did the deed. It was stupid of me, but I didn't think of that. I have to wait another whole week & 3 days before AF....this is gonna be a rough week Chat Icon

Re: PLEASE help; question

I was on Yasmin too... and came off it on August b/c we are TTC. This happened to me once too, and then when AF didn't show up as scheduled I started to freak out, but she came a day later.

Re: PLEASE help; question

It is possible, but not probable. The statistics are waaaay the other way, but there is definitely a possibility. If you were drinking that is fine. You would have to be 6wks LMP before you are sharing blood, so it would not affect the fetus.

Re: PLEASE help; question

I worked with a girl who got pg 3x's on birth control. This was before Yasmine.

Anyway, as stated Yasmine is 99% effective if taken perfectly.
95% in reality. Antibiotics, St. John's Wort, Vomiting and diarrhea can lessen the effectiveness.

Is it possible....Sure, is it likely...No

Stress, changes in diet, even seasons can effect cycles/hormones so don't worry!

And about those 5 drinks...You and the baby don't "share" blood until something like 5 weeks.

They say that those 2 weeks that women don't even know they are pregnant before they miss a period doesn't harm the baby.

I just saw this now.....
Thanks Lana! I know he shouldn't be!
Funny thing is...he ALWAYS wanted me to go on the pill but I was always afraid of gaining weight. After years of hard work to lose weight, I didn't want it to go down the drain. When I found out I was gonna have AF for my HM, I decided to go on BC and had the "baby" talk with him and told him that we would 86 the condoms if we knew that we could handle any "surprises" if one might come our way. He said "YES"! What happened to that? Although, he wouldn't count this as a "surprise", it would just be me being careless with the pill! URRR!!!!Chat Icon
Thanks again though LanaChat Icon

BTW Lana, how is your situation? Do you still think you could be PG??

I totally understand!
Yeah, I am feeling more crampy so I think I just overreacted. I am still slightly stomach achey though. I never get like that, but I am sure it's fine.

Its a little scary when you know your body so well, and then it starts acting differently. Good luck! I hope it turns out to be whatever you are hoping for
