is this for real?

My MIL swears there a shortage on gas... and they'll be no more left real soon..

DH and I are supposed to go away for the weekend...and shes telling us not to go because there wont be any gas for us to come home..??

The past 2 days have been crazy for me..so I havent watched the news or read the paper... is this whats being said??

MIL is crazy and paranoid... so I wouldnt out it past her... however today DH and I went to 3 gas stations and all 3 had signs saying ULTRA ONLY...

SO now Im thinking maybe shes right???!!!

Anyone know the scoop here?

i heard on the news that they'll be cutting back on deliveries until tues....

I really wouldn't worry. It's fine. If we REALLY were going to run out of gas, I'm sure there'd be a media frenzy about it already. And hey, if we run out of gas, I guess no one can hold me accountable for not showing up to work when my car runs out

These are all the gas rumors so far... there isn't a "real" shortage but because of people's hysteria certain gas stations are running out of regular...but there is plenty of premium.

There is a shortage in the hurricane effected areas because the trucks can't get through. I think up here it's just paranoia--- I hope!

Im not going to worry too much, however, DH did pass a gas station tonight and he said the guy was out of gas!
We will see what happens tomorrow. This is scary Sh!t.

Both gas stations on my corner said they wont have 87 gas till Tuesday at the earliest, as late as Thursday...My sister lives in Georgia and they have not been able to find gas. The stations close early, like 6-7pm and the only one near her thats open and has gas is 12 miles away and its $6.25 a GALLON

But they are hoping the government will step in down there....

It WILL get better from what I hear on Tv and in the papers, but I would waste gas over the next few weeks untill it does settle itself...

oh and Rachel... to top it off... we are visting SIL...when my MIL heard we were going she decided she was gonna go that weekend too... (now shes saying she might not cuz of the gas) But come on...if we go shes gonna go..so Ill be stuck there with my INLAWS...AHHHHHH

Ok, here's the plan. I'll fill up my tank tomorrow, and if you get stuck there, I'll voluntarily drive up and conveniently only have enough room for you and your DH I have a PIA MIL, too, so I feel your pain!

My biggest fear is:

Ill get stuck there...go into labor.. and my family wont be there... just my Inlaws....

I would never forgive myself!

Dh just got home and said that 2 gas stations in Oceanside were out of gas(reg).
He said it has something to do with the power outages due to Katrina or something like that

I don't believe we'll run out of gas...don't worry too much about it. But, in your case, if you feel too stressed over it, maybe you shouldn't take the trip because it's going to make you miserable. You don't need this stress right now...
