OK Don't quote me cuz I'm not a temperature taker but I believe if your temps stay up after O it's a good sign of being PG.

if your temps stay elevated for 16 days after O (i could be wrong on the # of days) then you could most likely be pg.
After you O your temps rise, which also confirms that you did indeed O

Progesterone is the "hot" hormone which makes your temp rise. If you are preggers than you will be producing more of this which will keep your temp higher than before Oing. I am telling you girl- I feel it for you!

Re: Can anyone explain the significane of temps??
Your temp will ALWAYS rise after O- as that's when progesterone is released. This is NOT an indicator of pregnancy. High temps for 18 consecutive days COULD signify pregnancy.
BEFORE O, temps are low because that's when estrogen (cold hormone) are released.
If your temping, please do yourself a favor and buy Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. Even if you don't chart by TCOYF specifics, it will explain all the changes seen in your body throughout your cycle.....
