Chemical Pregnancy
When you have a chemical pregnancy is it like a m/c where you would bleed? I had a very strange cycle where I thought I got AF last month, although it was very light, only to get a +hpt 7 days later. I got another positive hpt a couple of days after that. When I went to the GYN this week, the bloodtest was negative. She told me I had a chemical pregnancy (because 3 hpt's were positive). I found this out on Monday, yet I'm still having pregnancy symptoms (very very sore boobs and cramping). She just told me to look for AF at my normal time (22nd) and that was it. But if I was actually pregnant, regardless for how long, wouldn't my body have to get rid of it? I had a m/c in 2005, which was very physically painful, so I'm a bit worried about this. Can anyone clear this up?

Re: Chemical Pregnancy
In my opinion you should have had an u/s just to see what was going on. It is possible that you did pass anything during that very light AF or whatever it was and it could take you some time for your hcg levels to return to 0 which would explain the +hpt. It seems like it took a little longer than it should have, about 10 days right? Thats a while to still have the hormone but if your dr doesn't seemed concerned than I guess your body responded normally. When would your next AF be due? Many times women think they just got AF when they in fact have a chemical pregnancy so it is possible that it might not be as painful or heavy as last time. How far along were you last time?
BTW: I am very sorry for your losses. This must be so difficult.

Re: Chemical Pregnancy
I thought I was 6w4d when I got the first negative at the GYN's office. It's very hard because this month is 2 years of TTC for our first child. AF is due 1/22. My GYN didn't make a big deal about it. The only thing she suggested was that they'll monitor the next cycle and in the luteal phase give me progesterone. This is w/out her doing any bloodwork. I had been going to an RE earlier this year for IUI's and all the time my progesterone was normal. I know there isn't side effects, but I'd rather not take anything unless I have to (I've taken a lot over the last 2 years). I figured if I get pregnant again, I'll call for bloodwork and if I need progesterone, I'll take it.

Re: Chemical Pregnancy
I had a chemical last month-I knew something was up because i got a line then negatives and my AF was late-Luckily I had a prescheduled GYN appt and when he examined me he confirmed. My flow was way heavier than usual and I cramped alot more with alot more tissue than usual (sorry TMI). I was given a prescription for progesterone to be filled ASAP if i get a BFP.

Re: Chemical Pregnancy
You should definitely get an US. Have you gotten your period again? I had a chemical but I got a pos. on CD11 then bled on CD 14 for about 10 days so it was basically a long period.
