Onsies w/ umbilical cord hole.
Are these necessary?? I have seen them on the BRU website and contemplated putting them on my registry. According to the BRU website it says...
"The new Umbilicare bodysuit promotes healing to the umbilical cord when worn for up to the first three weeks of an infant's life. The recommended care is to keep the umbilical cord exposed to air, letting it dry naturally. This is usually achieved by dressing baby in short t-shirts which inevitably ride up and cause bunching and discomfort. Now with the patented, new Umbilicare design, newborns can wear a secure-fitting bodysuit that features a special cut-out around the umbilical cord, allowing it to dry more quickly, thereby decreasing the chance of infection around the umbilical cord."
Is $9.99 for 3 onsies that the baby wears for 3 weeks worth it?? Or are regular onsies okay?
TIA!

I agree..i think its a gimmick to tell you the truth. Your baby will be wrapped in blankets anyway and SOMETHING is bound to hit the umbilical area. Besides, a lot of times its a few days before it falls off...then there is no need for those onesies anyway...i say stick with regular!

My Lamaze coach also said it's a waste. Some babies are also longer than others so often the hole doesn't line up properly.

I remember wanting to buy them but couldn't even find them before Emily was born. Did not miss them at ALL. Usually, their onesies are a bit loose anyway so it's not like it's rubbing against the cord area anyway. Totally not worth it IMO.

If you are really concerned you can get a few of the side snap t shirts that are a little looser. But we didn't have any problems with the onsie rubbing the umbilical cord.

i agree completely...right up there with diapers with the notch cut out [if they even make those anymore]. some things you have to use a little "old school" thinking on...we all made it and i'm sure our mothers smothered the life out of our little bellies! just keep it clean and you'll have no reason to worry.
