What's the best way to track cycles?

I took a hiastus from the pill for medical reasons in Sept-- but have decided not to go back on due to TTC in 6 months. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when my periods are coming-- and in the event that my period does not regulate over time, I'd like to be able to know when I am ovulating, when and if my period is late, etc.

Can you guys share some tips? Should I use OPK's to figure out when that's happening, keep a note of that and my periods, etc?

I used fertility friend and OPKs and got pg my first cycle trying. I had charted for 3 months prior to actively trying.

The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility was helpful- but all the basic info you need is also on the Fertility Friend site.

thanks-- maybe it is just cause I am new at this-- but I find those sites to be a bit confusing! It's a little overwhelming for me.

I did not get my BFP yet, but I will tell you that this is the first month I know exactly when I ovulated. Fertility friend detected it 2 days too late. I bought the Clear blue easy fertility monitor off amazon.com for about $169. Twenty dollars cheaper than i saw it sold in stores. Remember you need AAA batteries as well as the clear blue easy testing strips which I bought from CVS. It's expensive, but if I get a BFP this month, I would say def. invest in it. Honestly, when I first started charting I did it the old-fashioned way with a paper chart - now THAT's confusing LOL! Fertility Friend pretty much tells you what you need to know when you plug in your temps - and if it gets confusing, you can always post your chart on here and we'll try to help!
