Anyone not have room for a glider?
Its sooo big and the baby's room is going to be so small - what should I do?
I'm not sure if we'll have room in the living room either! Should I just get a regular rocking chair?

so what are you going to do? The old fashioned "walk around the room?" or a rocking chair?

Re: Anyone not have room for a glider?
I had one when I was pregnant with my daughter, and I rarely sat on it after she was born. It was so comfy when I couldnt sleep while preggo though...
Since the new baby and Genevieve are gonna be sharing a room, we cant fit ours and it wont fit in the LR. I might try to sell it or see if someone wants it.

Re: Anyone not have room for a glider?
We are looking into Shermag gliders. They are a lot smaller then other brands and are still rated pretty high in our Baby Bargins book. We saw the glider and ottoman at Baby Depot for under $200.

Re: Anyone not have room for a glider?
This was my concern too. All of my furniture was delievered this AM and dh is putting the cushions on my glider now. I do have the room, Thank Goodness. I looked at regular rocking chairs, but fell in love with the one I ordered.

I had one with my first and rarely used it, so I won't be getting another on this time around.

Re: Anyone not have room for a glider?
i have an overstuffed chair that rocks w/ matching ottoman and i'm in it all the time- it is THE most comfortable place to feed the baby- so I would say get one...

Re: Anyone not have room for a glider?
i'm not getting one. i have one of those ikea loungy chairs that could rock. it's def not as huge as the rockers we normally see at a baby shop. we may have room for an actual glider but i'm curious, is it really necessary? as in better for you and so on..?

Re: Anyone not have room for a glider?
I think everyone feels differently about their gliders.. I have a glider in the baby's room, but honestly I never EVER use it .. I rock himin our rocker/recliner in the living room usually , which is more comfy.. plus DS likes to hear some 'background' noise (like the TV) so his nursery is actually too 'quiet' for him
(luckily DS doesn't need much rocking to get him to sleep so it's not all that crucial to us )

Re: Anyone not have room for a glider?
We put ours in the office since it would have cramped up her nursery. Since we got it in cherry it looks good in the corner and matches the rest of my office furniture.

Re: Anyone not have room for a glider?
I would measure how much room you have left after you purchase your furinture and then have a mental layout of the room and go check out some gliders. They come in so many sizes. I was on the fence about getting one but DH really wanted it and I am so glad I got it. I have used it since the first night I came home from the hospital and use it every night to put him to bed. I really cant see myself putting him to sleep anywhere else.
