Question for all the parents!
This is my parents first baby and they are so excited and want us to bring the baby over to them often when it is finally born -so we thought it might be nice for Christmas to get them a basket of things they would need and maybe a pack n play?
Can anyone give me a list of things you found was helpful for your parents to have when you brought your baby over to visit or for them to watch.
Also which pack and play did you find was helpful for this sort of thing. They only live 1 mile away so if they have some stuff it would make it easy to pop over and not bring 1000 things with us each time.

Re: Question for all the parents!
a few onsies, diapers, wipes, blanket. those are probably the most important. then you might want to think about teethers and a few newborn type plush toys, maybe their own bottle with a 4 pack of RTF formula (just in case - I did this even though I BF).

Yeah no I am not looking to give them diapers - this is a christmas gift - I was thinking more like bibs, and other fun but essentials that would make for a fun gift. I will get them diapers when the baby comes.
I will def add the blanket and teethers to the list! I would like to put a nice baske together that will be fun for them - since they are so excited. My dad has been saying for over a week that he has to redo the back yard since his precious grandchild will be in it (I have to remind him the baby will be coming in June/July and WON"T be walking or crawling around the back yard this summer...LOL
I plan on breast feeding so they will get pumped milk when I am not around.

Re: Question for all the parents!
Maybe the basket can be a baby bathtub. I know my mom loves giving Stephanos a bath. That's "her job." If you do that, you can give them a rubber ducky, towel, wash cloths, baby soap, lotion, a brush.
Other stuff that I find helpful to have at my mom's and inlaws are blankets, sheets for the pack and play/crib and toys. I try not to bring too much clothing over their houses because he's not there all the time and by the time they put on the clothes they have on Stephanos, it doesn't fit him.

Re: Question for all the parents!
A high chair would be good. You can get one of the portable ones that strap to the chair.

Re: Question for all the parents!
You can wait until after the baby is born but maybe a swing or bouncy seat? Also a play mat (like a gyminee) is great to have! You might also want to get a baby bath for over night stays. My parents LOVE to give the baby a bath (so much so that they will bathe him even if he doesn't need it! For you, a boppy, diapers in every size (newborn, 1, 2), wipes, changing table pad and cover, diaper disposal bags (they are blue and smell like baby powder to mask the poopie diaper smell!). Keep the diapers there, they won't go bad! Also, a few extra onsies, pjs, and sock. Additionally, ge them a bottle of Dreft or other baby detergent. You neve know what will come out of your baby that will require a quick trip into the washing machine!!!
As far as a pack n play, it really depends on the decor of the room it will be in. My parents have a full size crib in their house for all their grandchildren (they now have 3) when they were/are babies. They just get new linens to make it more personal! If you still decide to get a pack n play, get one with the changing table part. It makes it easier so you have a place to change the baby right there.
You can get them "I love grandma" and "I love grandpa" bibs to leave at their house. Also a few blankets (not receiving blankets. Get the waffle weave ons so you can swaddle the baby with them). They are good to wrap baby in case it gets a little cool in the house.

Re: Question for all the parents!
Thats a good idea about the bathtub. Munchkin makes a yellow ducky blow up tub that is so cute. You could use it with an infant if you get a bath sling. You can buy the tub at Target. Also , Madeline loved the Baby Einstein soft blocks from about 2 months +. They are a cute toy to have at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Also , throw in a GC for picture development ( or photo paer if they print their own) and a nice baby themed picture album.

diapers, wipes, extra clothes, a SWING, extra bouncy seat since you can feed them in it when they start food and can't sit up completely on their own yet.

Re: Question for all the parents!
As far as the PNP is concerned a word of advice. My parents bought one for themselves for when Ellie came to visit and they bought one that has a bassinet feature with a limit of only 15 lbs that had to be removed and once it was removed the baby was stuck sleeping naps and over night in the bottom of the PNP so you had to bend over really far to put her down while trying to keep her asleep. One of our family friends who also got one for their grandkids have one that has a raised platform that worked much better. So if this is going to take the place of them actually having a crib see if you can find the one with the sleeping platform higher.

Re: Question for all the parents!
Definitely some clothes, blankets, dribble bibs (for when they are teething - my son started at 2 months), and some sort of bouncy seat. My mother bought the evenflow PNP for her house and it was about $60 I think and is perfect for her. A highchair would be good, but not until your baby is about 5-6 months old. Depending on how much your baby likes the swing, you may want to think about getting them a portable swing to use too. You could also make up a basket with diapers, cream, a changing mat, wash, a comb, and all that little stuff that comes in handy.
My parents are a mile away too, but its SOOOO nice to have things there and not have to pack up the car to run over there for an hour.

Re: Question for all the parents!
These are all fabulous suggestions!!! Okay I don't think they will have a crib but I will look for the pack n play that has the raised part and one with a changing table. Then I will get a baby bath and fill it with bibs, rubber ducks and a lot of the items mentioned above. Any other must haves?

Christine, many (if not all) pack and plays come with a bassinet part and the changing table. I would just get one that the changing table can be removed (some pack and plays the changing table is attached to the pack and play). Also, for Stephano's pack and play I got an extra portable crib mattress to put in it b/c the matress that comes with it is thin.

Re: Question for all the parents!
Everyone gave you great suggestions.... For stuff at my ILs, we were all about maximizing space. My ILs got this FP Infant to Toddler Rocker. It's great bc he used since he was a newborn and now at 18 months it's his chair whenever he's there.
Also we got a booster seat so they could feed him instead of buying a full size high chair.
