When did your dr tell you to start cereal?

I have Dominic's 3 month visit next week and was wondering if maybe he will tell me to start or is it way too early?


Also, did you notice your DC slept better at night once they started on the cereal?

I asked our doctor at her 3 month appointment last week. He said we would discuss it at our next appointment. She usually drinks about 6 oz now and he says if shes not waking up in the middle of the night and doesnt seem to be starving, to wait. He also said the earlier you introduce cereal and foods to them, the more likely they are to develop food allergies. Not sure why though.

So at our next appointment we will discuss again but for now, Megan seems content still on her formula and thats fine with me.

my Dr told me 4 mnths which is next week, and I'm hoping it eliminates the 3oclock feeding.

6 months but I started at 4.5 because I felt like he was drinking a lot of formula. I only gave it to him once a day for a month and then at 5.5 months I started twice a month

With Caiden we started about 3.5-4 months. We're going to start with Connor about the same time as well. My doctor told me between 3.5-4 months also. He said to look for cues from the baby to see if he's ready. He said the baby will watch you eat and start mimicking the mouth movement. I remember Caiden doing that and so far Connor has been watching us eat, we're just waiting for the mouth movement.

PEd told us 6 months, we started her at 6 months.

I don't think cereal has anything to do with sleeping, i think that's an old wives tale. I was told sleeping through the night is a milestone and each baby reaches it when they are ready and food has nothing to do with it.

DD has been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks old.

They told me at 4 months to try. He did not sleep any better after having cereal. I think eating cereal has nothing to do with sleeping.

The doctor told me 3 months.
I started at one month.

We started at 4 months...she was already a good sleeper so I didn't notice any change

DS was 3 months old when we started cereal, fruits & veggies.

Michael's ped. said to start cereal between 4-6 months - I was told if he was still sleeping through and didn't seem hungry on just formula to hold off. I started Michael just before he turned 6 months old.

Ped told us to start at 4 months. We had a rough beginning cuz he was getting gassy. So we stopped and then started again at 4 and a half months and had to go really slow. They said to start with 1tablespoon but we started with 1 teaspoon a day and then gradually increased. We did this just with the rice cereal. Once he got the hang of it then we started with 1 tbsp when introducing the oatmeal and barley cereal. He is 6 months old and he just started veggies. He has been on fruits and loves them!
