Anyone ever done the ole whiskey trick for teething?

I'm getting desperate with Roman! Maybe I'll hit the bottle instead

I was SOOOOOOOOO tempted last week, but was way too scared to do it. We just toughed it out. I'm sorry it's gotten that bad for you guys, I absolutely know the desperation that leads you to wanting to liquor them up! So to speak, of course!

We use ouzo (the greek liquor). We put it on our fingers and then rub it on his gums. He loves it

We use Baby Orajel (sp?). It's a gel that is designed to numb the gums. We use it now with DD, and 3 years ago with DS, and it seems to work very well. It works within a few seconds, and seems to last a while, too. There's plenty of other brands, as well.

I am scared to use it. My husband wants to though.

Do any of your babies refuse the bottle cause thier teething so bad? I have been trying to give him ore oatmeal and fruits and vegetables.

I'm not a fan of the whiskey but DH thinks it should be OK..."we all had it done to us back home" Because that's good enough reason, right?!?! LOL!

I am not even 100% sure about Baby Oragel, they can swallow the stuff and I dont think it sits well in the tummy. My pedi said he would rather me not use it... I figure if it gets really bad I'm probably going to have to but I'll tough it out as long as I have to. He's got 1 tooth already and didn't really have a bad teething experience (so much so that we didn't even realize he was getting the tooth until it popped!) Now he's getting his 2nd and is a bit miserable but not crying, just not his happy self either.

Jenn, I goto the doctor next week and will let ya know what he says abut the bottle thing. I think as long as thye are gainign weight, we shouldnt be worried. GOOD LUCK!!

We're not at that point yet, but I can totally see us putting some whisky on his gums. I really don't see the harm- but maybe that's just the old school thinking in me.

I would never do it because I think the taste of whiskey is totally nasty and I wouldnt subject him to it. But the Baby Oragel seems to help alot. And some ibuprofen. I have a miserable teether going on right now too, he's inconsolable sometimes - completely out of character for him.
