Charting my BBT is driving me crazy
DH and I have started to TTC. In September my doctor told me I have PCOS. So she wanted me to start tracking my BBT for when we were ready to TTC. My cycle varies between 35-45 days so it is very hard to figure out when I ovulate. I charted for my last cycle-which was a 45 day cycle and the doctor said she couldn't determine if and when I ovulated. She wants me to chart again for another cycle. So I'm in the middle of charting for this cycle and we also decided to TTC.
I can't figure out if I ovulated yet. My temp spikes and then it drops, and then it spikes again and drops again. I felt like I was ovulating last weekend-which would be my 14-15 CD. My temp also went up .4 degrees in a 24 hour period. Since then it has gone up and down on a daily basis.
Since Tuesday I have felt that I might be pregnant. The last time I was pregnant I felt it within in days of conceiving. My body just feels different and I felt little cramps. But my temp is not indicating that and I can't even figure out if I even ovulated. This is driving me crazy and I just had to vent to all of you. I'm trying so hard not to think about it but of course it is all I can think about.
Any thoughts on my temp readings? I know I need to put it out of my mind and just wait. But I know you ladies can relate to how hard that is.
Thanks for letting me share.

Re: Charting my BBT is driving me crazy
I am in the same exact boat! I have PCOS as well, however, this is my first time trying to conceive. I am just about a week or so away from AF- yet I am feeling the symptoms of pregnancy. I spoke about it with my mom and she said there was no way I'd feel it this early on. (I hope she's wrong!) What does the Dr. recommend for PCOS other than charting temps? I just moved to FL and am still in search of a good gyno. Thanks and many sticky vibes to you!!!

Not that I want to tell you your mother is wrong-but I have to disagree with her. When I was pregnant with my daughter I knew within days of us TTC. My body felt different and I started getting slight cramps. I do think that it's too early for many of the symptoms but there are a couple that you may start to notice.
The doctor hasn't told me a lot about PCOS. She just wants me to track my BBT and then we'll take it from there. I have read that diet and exercise helps it a lot. So you may want to consider that.

Re: Charting my BBT is driving me crazy
charting BBT was very stressful for me as well. because of it, ttc was the very first thing on my mind in the morning. at times i even felt like i wasn't sleeping well because i was so preoccupied with what the temp would be in the morning! (i know, that probably sounds insane).
i'm not sure what to make of the erratic temps. do you chart on fertility friend? if so, they have those message boards where you can ask the charting "experts" - you might want to try it.

Do you also monitor your CM? I am not TTC but use charting as our method of birth control. I have never had regular cycles, they can range from 31 to 42 days. I take my temp everyday, but I find that by monitoring my CM, I know about 2-3 days before I ovulate.
I notice it but I didn't write it down with my chart. I also only really pay attention to whether there is none or there's some. I know there are different levels of CM but I can't say for sure when I experience each one. I know my CM was there on my 14th CD because that was the day that we started TTC. I noticed it for a couple of days but I would say there hasn't been any since then. I am currently on CD 22. I think I ovulated sometime between CD 14 and 18. But my temp has gone up and down since then so I can't figure out if I actually did and that's what's really driving me crazy.

I only found out a couple of days ago that I am suppose to do that. So now I am but I haven't been for the first 2 weeks. But my timing is all pretty close. I mean I wake up everyday between 6:30 and 7:00. I know on the weekends I probably temp a little later but I couldn't even say that for sure. There are plenty of weekend days when I am up early so it's possible I took my temp around 7 on those days as well. Could a half hour really make that much of a difference?

A half hour shouldn't really make THAT much of a difference ... but definitely try to do the same time everday if possible. Are you temping after a minimum of 3 consecutive hrs of uninterrupted sleep? I know you have a little one, so that can be hard...

Re: Charting my BBT is driving me crazy
I am temping with a minimum of 3 hours consecutive sleep and I do try to do it around the same time. I'm just confused because my temp is erratic but I do feel as if I have a bunch of symptoms. If it weren't for my temperature I would bet my house on me getting a positive this month. But my temp spiked up and down three times, then it went down for a couple of days in a row and now it spiked up .5 degrees today. I just don't know what it means. It is possible for me to be pregnant even if my temp doesn't stay high?

Re: Charting my BBT is driving me crazy
My temp was going crazy too....going up and down. But then on CD27 it finally stayed up. I thought I may have O'd on CD15...but I'm glad we kept BDing.
Because I couldn't see a clear shift I just BDed every other day until I saw it.
Pay attention to your CM too. I had alot of CM around CD15, but I had EWCM around CD27.
It looks like I'm going to have a 38 day cycle this month. Where as last month it was only 28 days...so I understand your frustration.
Hang in there. I just decided not to stress about it, as long as we BD every other day we should be good.
I haven't been as stressed about it as I was the first 3 months.
