What are you giving up while in 2WW
Sorry if this has been asked before but...
I haven't touched alcohol or sushi or coffee while in the 2WW.
Is this necessary? I feel like I am missing out for a reason that may not even be there, if that makes sense.

I just cut back.....if I go out I will have a drink or two, although I gave up caffeine altogether.

Re: What are you giving up while in 2WW
During my 2ww I gave up alcohol and avoided all of the foods that are a no-no including limiting my caffeine. I figured that it would not be for nothing...if I got AF I would treat myself to whatever I really missed. But in the meanwhile I figured giving it up could only help and would ease any worries I would have if I got my BFP.

Re: What are you giving up while in 2WW
It's so hard during the holidays. I have 2 Christmas parties that I need to RSVP to and honestly I dont know if I want to go if I am PG and nevermind New Years Eve. I think the stress of the holidays are adding to the withdrawl of my normal habits.

Re: What are you giving up while in 2WW
i am so torn about this... on one hand, i would like to give up all the no-no stuff, like alcohol and caffeine, so that i don't stress about it if i get a BFP that month. then again, the longer it takes me to conceive, the more i think that it's sort of unreasonable to lead this restrictive lifestyle... having to worry so much about about what i take in is just adding to the stress of ttc, and that's no good either.
so i've settled on the "in moderation" stance - i've cut down, but still have my morning coffee. and i'll still have a couple of drinks a week if the occasion arises. i'm not sure if that's the right thing to do, but i'm going with it for now...

Re: What are you giving up while in 2WW
This month was my first 2WW and I was SO GOOD. No coffee (which is SO HARD for me), no wine, no sushi, none of the bad cheeses or cold cuts...i even stopped running and pilates and started just walking so as to not "mess" with implantation.
I think giving up all that is what made me SOOOOOO nuerotic...my mom was like - whenever it happens happens and I'm like - I need to get this show on the road b/c it is messing with my life! Point being - I think I'm going to go the everything is ok in moderation route from now on.
I must say though knowing I can have sushi and a big glass of wine for dinner tonight and go for a good run tomorrow morning made getting AF much easier!

Re: What are you giving up while in 2WW
When I'm in the 2WW I think of myself as pregnant and give up everything that comes along with being pregnant. To me it's not worth the risk. It's very hard for me because I love coffee and I love my drinks, but I would feel guilty if I was pregnant and I had some drinks.

I am not a caffeine drinker so that was easy. I have avoided sushi and tuna, the tuna because of the mercury.

Alcohol. I have cut down on caffeine anyway--I was drinking a fair amount of coffee and figured it would be better to go through withdrawal before I'm pregnant. I'm down to one cup of half caff a day and sometimes I really go wild and have a cup of decaf too. I also avoid foods like cold cuts and soft cheeses as much as possible. I also gave up diet soda, but that's something I'd like to keep up. I just don't trust it completely.
The only plus to getting AF these days is having a glass of wine again, or eating some soft cheese.

Re: What are you giving up while in 2WW
I didn't change a thing during the 2ww but take my vitamins.
Life is too short and i found myself completely obssessing in the 2ww, it was just so much easier not to focus on the wait and just let life happen. It def helped the 2ww to go by faster if i wasn't obessing over what i was eating, what CD i was at.
ETA: It really doesn't matter what you eat during the 2ww, the baby doesn't get it's nourishment from you that early on. Just an FYI>

Re: What are you giving up while in 2WW
i gave up alcohol.. almost complete (just took a few sips off of DH wine).
NOT caffene, something I am dreading actually. I drink 1 large cup of coffee - down from 1 large 1 medium (i guess thats good) and coke. I go to school at night and that makes it hard w/out any caffeine at all AND I am NOT a morning person!
I don't eat cheese.. and now i find thats good, hooray for me!
As for sushi, if I ate it during 2WW it was VERY little..
We postponed trying till April, so I guess I should start the caffeine withdrawal.. But I just SO love my cup of coffee!!!!!!

Thats what I thought, but my husband (Dr) said it may.. especially the alcohol since it gets into bloodstream, and the egg implats itself deep into uterous. I don't think they have proof either way, but he feels to caution on safe side.

Re: What are you giving up while in 2WW
I didnt give anything up, I just cut back A LOT. DH and I go out pretty much every weekened, so first of all we stopped going out, but I would still have a glass of wine with my dinner once a week. As far as coffee goes, I tried going cold turkey and I was suffering from THE ONLY headaches! The lingering ones are the worst...so I just cut back from 3 cups to 1 cup a day. Im sure once I find out if Im preggo or not I'll try to cut the cup to a 1/2 cup.

I would go with whatever you find comfort in
I was told in the 2ww, that since the baby does not get it's nourishment from you, and since the body has a way of "protecting" the baby when the mom doesn't know she is pg.
Alcohol is something I did try to stay away from during the 2ww, but i really didn't. With DD and this pg, in my 2ww I had wine, margaritas, etc, I am not a drinker though at all, an occasional social drink won't hurt at all during the 2ww.
Drinking while you know you are pg is a hot topic for me, and that I believe should be avoided, damageto the baby after you know you are pg is proven it can cause birth defects.
But that's just me
