Wash them with hot water and dish soap. If you want after that you can sterilize them by boiling them in a pot of boiling water.

I think you can just wash them off with hot soapy water or clean them in the dishwasher. Boil them if you want.
They're non-porous.

ETA - I really want to know why they were in the bathroom, lol.

I would think running them thru a dish washer cycle would be enough to sanitize them, especially if your dishwasher has a sanitize option. If you think about it, a lot of your dishes and silverware touch lots of disgusting things, like when they're soaking in the sink, plenty of bacteria there, mixing and handling raw eggs and meat, being used by people in your family when they're sick...etc. So I personally would probably just wash them like I wash all my other dirty dishes.

Dishwasher will sanitize anything.

And if he was flushing food down the toilet tell him to stop.
That will end up a $400 roto rootor visit eventually.
Just scrape food into the trash.

Was there anything else in the toilet?

I'm kind of a germaphobe but at the same time I'd be annoyed to lose pieces of my flatware set. Honestly, I would probably just sanitize in the dishwasher.

I would just throw them out.

However, I would not be flushing food down the toilet. That sounds like a plumber nightmare.

Luckily, my LL is a plumber. But this is embarrassing, but my BF jokes about flushing certain birth control down the toilet. I’m like just throw it in the garbage. I really don’t want to deal with plumbing problems and I certainly don’t want kids, so I’m not going to steal your semen or something. I’ve no energy for that. He has started to put it in the garbage, but I do worry what else he flushes.

They are stainless steel, it's not like they are going to absorb anything from the toilet and be ruined. The dishwasher will kill any germs and bacteria but if it makes you feel better, clean them with soapy water and then boil them before running them through a cycle. I wouldn't throw them out, that's silly.

Do NOT bleach. You will ruin the finish.
Soap, hot water will take care of it.
Boil if you wish.

Re: silverware dropped in toilet bowl (thanks dh)

Honestly with little kids and a dog much grosser things have happened in my life so I would super wash them with soap and hot water, dishwash them on sanitize setting and think nothing else of it.

This. Put them in the dishwasher and don't give it another thought! Silly to throw them out. Just imagine where your flatware in restaurants has been and gone through!
