People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
Anyone have this? I was diagnosed recently and have been using inserts that were given to me by the doctor. I was in pretty bad shape when I went… I ended up getting a shot to help with the inflammation for a little bit. That really helped but I know I can't keep getting them.
I very stupidly didn't wear the inserts for a couple of days and now I'm suffering for it. I was wondering if this is something that you had that comes and goes. It's so painful and annoying!

I had it once, it lasted a few months and then one day it just went away. Thankfully it never came back. I wore inserts, did stretching exercises, massage, cold packs....... I tried anything and everything. Feel better, it's so painful.

I absolutely swear by Vionic Orthaheel shoes- especially the flip flops. The literally saved my feet! I would wear them around the house when it would act up and it would go away after a while. I love them!

I have it -- once I started wearing orthotics (but only for running) -- it went away, pretty much. It was so awful before that, though. I had a cream that was supposed to reduce the swelling but hardly did anything. Stretching helped more than anything. Sorry you're going through this.

Thanks! I've done all of that repeatedly and it's all temporary unfortunately. I'm glad it went away for you! It's annoying because my one foot is worse than the other.
I guess things could always be worse though!

Thanks! I'll look into these. I'm so used to just wearing socks around the house… It's such a pain in the ass to have to wear my shoes with inserts but if I don't I'm in so much pain

Thank you. Yeah the orthotics were helping… Until I stopped for a couple of days like an idiot. I guess I just have to except that I have to wear them every day.

Re: People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
i had it years ago. it eventually went away.
while it was happening, what helped was rolling a cold can/bottle under my foot. both the cold and the massage helped reduce the pain and swelling.

Yes! The worst thing you can do is wear a flat or unsupportive shoe. I have pairs of these flip flops at work, in my car, etc. I am obsessed. The "Tide" is my favorite one. They feel very weird/uncomfortable at first but work them in and they will hopefully help you as much as they did me!

Re: People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
Definitely wear inserts or at least shoes with lots of support. For flip flops I LOVE the Nike ones with memory foam. Don't walk around barefoot. The more you move/stretch the muscle the better it gets. Feel better (it's a ***** for sure).

That was so hard for me, I love being barefoot. But now I just wear my Nike flip flops when I'm home. Even if I get up to pee at night I put them on.

Ugh I know. My doc said to put the inserts in my silly slippers for late night bathroom visits

Re: People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
I have it. The orthotics helped a lot. My dr also gave me a boot to wear at night that stretched the muscle. It wasn't the most comfortable thing to wear but my foot felt so much better in a few weeks.

Re: People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
I had it on my left foot a few years ago. I did electric stimulation therapy only a few times. The doctor also gave me a boot to wear at nighttime only. I used that for about 2 months and it went away. When my right foot started bothering me I bought the boot for my right foot. The key for me is stretching. If it really starts hurting me especially when I first wake up in the morning I use a tennis ball to stretch and if it's really bad I wear the boot to bed.

Take a water bottle, a small one. Fill it up and freeze. Use this on your foot, roll it back and forth. It works!

People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
DH and I have it. Mine mostly went away once I stopped walking around bare footed. I always wear cushy slippers in the house. I was recently diagnosed with tendinitis from walking a lot in bad shoes so now I also wear the orthotic inserts.
DH has it worse. The things that help him the most is to roll his heel on a ball to stretch (he found a lacrosse ball to be the best bc it doesn't bend) and he sometimes sleeps with one of those boots to stretch the top of your foot back. It's awkward but he got used to it.

Re: People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
I have a double whammy -- I have PF and bone spurs in my heel. The PF comes and goes. I can no longer walk around barefoot for any extended period of time, nor can I wear flip flops. Every shoe has to have some sort of support to you (I don't wear inserts).
I always try to stretch before I get out of bed in the morning. The PF will sometimes wake me up at night, so I try not to keep my toe pointed while I sleep.

Re: People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
I had it. I had orthotic inserts made for my feet. That helped a lot, but it was a real pain finding shoes that would them, so I stopped wearing them. It went away, but since I do not wear them anymore, my feet are almost flat.
The frozen water bottle helps and you can do lunges forward. That will help stretch out the muscle. The stretches helped a lot.

Re: People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
I've had it in both feet. Never bothered with orthotics, it eventually went away on its own.
Stretching the achilles tendon helps a lot. Roll a cold water bottle under your foot. Roll a golf ball under your foot for "pressure" massage. Do not wear flip flops - the slapping of the shoe against your foot makes the inflammation worse. Wear a supportive shoe, one with a little wedge works best to alleviate pressure on the heel of your foot. Vionics are great, I also wear Birkenstocks instead of flip flops.
Give it time to heal.

Re: People who suffer from plantar fasciitis ..
I work in a podiatrist's office and plantar fasciitis is one of the most common things we treat. Wearing good, supportive shoes in the best thing to do - my boss always recommends New Balance. Try to wear a shoe with a firm heel and very flexible front. Orthotics also help a lot, you should wear them as much as possible. In our office, we do ultrasound therapy which helps with relieving some of the inflammation and pain.

You MUST work your way into them. You cant wear them 4 hours the first day, you will hurt yourself more. Start with an hour or two max.
