What are the other boards that people are reading? this is the only chat board I frequent and probably only because I started with 2003 brides on LIW!
Reddit is one I know of/use.

I don't really get it either. I browse sometimes but I find it too intimidating to post. I find it overwhelming I guess.

I'm just doing my normal IT person stuff... Not looking for any attention personally, but whenever I see a computer system not working as well as it could, I try to fix it....

They haven't just "didn't keep up", they haven't made any improvements in years. There was a semi-hidden forum that was supposed to be used to beta-test and give feedback on improvements to LIF, but that never went anywhere.
Even the basic moderating seems to have disappeared. The moderators used to be on top of nearly all of the threads, and would move them to the appropriate forums if needed, and pulled or locked threads that were heading off the deep end.
The Search feature has been broken for longer than I can remember.... I'd look up when we started posting about it not working, but the Search feature doesn't work....

I must be one of the few that prefer these types of boards. I hate using FB for this kind of forum bc you're name is out there for everyone to see and you can't pick and choose which topics you want to see - it all shows up on my wall.

I used to live in NC (the Triangle area) and we had a really high traffic board that was part of the Mommies Network. They've since completely killed it when they tried to go to another format, but one thing that I thought worked well was people in the area that were "leaders" for their town and set up play dates and events. I know this is a different type of board where a lot want to be anonymous, but maybe a part of the board could be for that stuff (play dates, parent's night out, family meet ups) and that's a way to get new traffic (inviting others to the events).

We actually used to have in-person get togethers. They were organized and run by LIF. I went to a couple of them. Localized meetups sounds interesting, though.

Every other post is a political one. And mostly there to stir the pot and start an anti trump tirade. I've been on this site a long time and I have never seen so much drama and animosity. Every time I see a political post - I don't even open it.
With the exception of these posts that tend to bring out the worst in people, I truly love this site and really enjoy chatting with everyone. I could care less who everyone supported.
Just pleaseeee stop with this political stuff.

OMG this.
It's so annoying and unorganized.
People just posting random questions on all topics and it cluttering up my wall.
I like that in a message board you can go there when you want, browse a board you want, it's all organized by topic, and you aren't seeing it blow up you FB feed.
I really really HATE FB groups.

I sent a note to TPTB letting them know that we are discussing features we'd like to see in this forum in this thread, so maybe they'll look into at least the simplest ones to implement.

Definitely would be nice to be able to post pics easily.
Also, might be nice to have separate forums based on regions/counties of LI so it's easier to get suggestions and answers in our own areas without having to specify our area in our posts.

I used to have this problem, then realized that I can just unfollow a group. If you unfollow the posts wont show up in your feed and just will show on your left side navigation so when you want to view group related posts just go there.

Maybe select a "poster of the day" and everyone gets to ask questions to get to know them? That's what another board I'm on does.

I've always been a casual user of LIF - not a super regular poster, but someone who reads a lot and only contributes if i have something different to say to the conversation. But i've thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot here.
My main reason for staying for the past 8 years has been to see the differing points of view everyone has on a variety of topics, as well as to get advice on any number of things.
This site was super helpful when i was going through TTC and IF, or needed home improvement vendor recommendations. I would hate to see it go away but the traffic has seriously declined in the past few years.
I know that a bunch of old posters moved on to FB groups initially, because this site was getting too "cliquey" and there was some drama with people's posts being censored by the admin - so a bunch of people left to create their own smaller, safer space. I think when that happened, many people left and never came back.
I prefer the anonymity of this site for so many reasons and would hate to see it go, but i don't think games or prizes is going to do anything. That's not going to attract new users.
IMO the site needs a facelift, needs some TLC put into it and needs to have an app version in order to survive.
i'd say 90% of people are on this site on their phones.. if its clunky and hard to use, you will lose traffic.
I'm usually only on during the day, while at work, and when i'm not busy (like lately).
When i'm not sitting at a desktop computer, this site is more of a pain to access and read the posts, and forget about posting.. its not easy from a phone at all.
So, while i am sad to see this happen - i see it as a result of the admins not keeping up with the times, and basically just giving up 
i'd love to be proved wrong though!

Yea where are the admins? Is someone running this website at all anymore? I hate the FB clutter and while not a huge poster here, I am more of a lurker! LOL. I only add if I feel I have something different to add.

Both I believe. I actually just saw Kim respond to someone yesterday!!!! Could not believe it, I was sure she was long gone.

I have zero interest in prizes. I hop on here once or twice a day usually to see whats going on and sometimes to get advice. I have been on here for over 10 years and would miss it if it were to disappear.
I wish there was a like button that you could just like someone's post as opposed to actually typing out a full reply.
I also wish there was more activity on some boards like the home board and the parents of school aged kids.
