the test seems to be an odd request to me. I have never been asked that before. It has nothing to do with my job.
The job doesn't require you to use a computer? If it doesn't, then you are right its not applicable. If you have to use a computer, then they can test you.
My company has seen lots of interview fraud. And not just people sending in bloated resumes. They will send in resumes of other people. They will have other people do the phone interview. They will have someone off to the side and answer all the questions in Skype. They will even send a different candidate on the first day of work then what they had complete the interview.
So now my company requires written and practical tests. In person. And we take away your cell phone. And we take your picture at the interview and compare that picture to the first day the new employee shows up at work. Because that is what we have to do to protect ourselves and make sure we actually get the candidate we need.

HR help regarding job interview on Monday. I have to fill out an application
Blazesyth, I'm sure i'll have to use a computer, I use on now. To me those that have always been tested were those in secretary, reception, admin positions. Civic service tests etc. Not my field.
In general my positions have never required me to be in charge of running excel sheets, run reports, keep calendar of events or appts. TO me those are the positions that get tested.

Update 12/12/2016: I received the job offer. So odd it's near the place of my car accident over the summer and cancer check that day.
I am seriously considering the position as it pays, 20 % more than Im making now, longer hours, less PTO days.
PS no new cancer growths, one enlarged lymph node since last yr, not getting larger or smaller
great update!!
especially on the health front!!
