i think that is not uncommon for jewish weddings and other cultures.
and what is the story with the cover your plate??
my ex best friend was like that. was telling everyone what the price was so when people gave gifts they would be mindful to cover that. we're not friends anymore (for many other reasons..lol).

Update update. I'm at the
Wed evening wedding.........hard for me to attend, but if it's the norm I get it

Someone posted pics of a Bukharian wedding on my fb a few months ago and the bride def went to Joann fabric and picked out the cheapest tackiest fabric for her dress. Sequins, lace and everything in btwn. Sad part is, it looked like they spent a lot of money on the entire event.

Update update. I'm at the
I will post some pix later. The wedding WAS lovely. It was like a feast of food. There were some really tacky moments, but overall lovely.
STill trying to get over the confetti cannon when she walked down the aisle though.....pix a little later.
And yes, I did cover my plate. I gave her $400. (me and DH).

I have a balloon cannon in my foyer, so every time I come home from work, I get balloons...
