Of course you can. If you couldn't I would be in deep trouble every month lol. I don't keep a balance in checking account so it's basically at $5 every time I deposit lol.

I've deposited checks for more than I had available and it just takes a few days for the check to clear and the funds to become available in your account.

Anything over $4999 will flag the IRS. That may be why she wants more than 1 check.

It's $9999 (CTR) unless it's suspicious activity (multiple deposits for $9999 or customer says something weird or whatever) which trigger an SAR.

You cannot cash it, but you should be able to deposit it. You may have to wait up to 10 days for the check to clear before it will hit your account.

You can deposit any amount. Just can't cash it unless you have enough to cover it available in your account, or just wait a few days til the check clears.
