recommend your grill!

not looking to spend a fortune but i'd like a nice sized grill

The last 2 we had were charbroil & brinkman. the charbroil lasted a few years before the insides needed to be replaced (minor repairs but i just got a new one). The brinkman lasted 1 1/2 or 2 years and now the insides are very messed up (vital pieces falling off).

Any recommendations?
Any sales running now? We need a new one by next weekend LOL

From what I heard Weber is the best, although pricey it lasts... We have a Charbroil, I think we are going on year 3 and next year we def have to replace it.

Re: recommend your grill!

I bought my DH a weber 2 years ago for his bday bc I heard great things and I was sick of replacing grills every couple years. Going onto year 3 and it still looks brand new.

Weber

We tried all the others and this was the way to go. Going on Year 6 and it starts right up every time.

A weber is worth the investment.

My Inlaws had one for 25 years. It looked like crap after that many years but worked perfectly

ETA: try Plessers. They sometimes have great deals

Gensis is good. It's the least expensive of the "fleet" lol But that just means it's a smaller grill.

Go look at them and see which one fits your needs best.

ETA: Forget the side burner! Unless you ever uses one, we never did and it was a wasted upgrade for us

Re: recommend your grill!

The thing with the Weber is, you will pay more now, but you won't have to buy another one.

We were buying the cheap grills - like charbroil, charm glow, whatever Home Depot was selling- and replacing them every 2-3 years.

Spending so much on parts in between too.

So at the end of the day you end up spending more in the long run on those grills.

Weber is made in America and it will last you forever

This.

My parents had a Ducane and it lasted 14 years. Also, my dad used it all year long. We have a Weber and love it.

Re: recommend your grill!

I also have a Weber. I do use the side burner for some things (heating up beans or sauerkraut), so for me it was worth it.
I've had it for several years, and it still looks almost brand new. Definitely make sure you have a cover for it. Keeps it out of the elements when it's not in use.

I have a Weber too. We bought it when we got married, and 11 years later, its still working fine. I've only replaced the starter. We use it mostly year round a few times a week.

You should keep it covered, we didn't for a while, and have some very minor surface rust on the frame underneath, but doesn't affect anything.

You should clean it out every once in a while, run it very hot, scrape the grates, then clean out the insides when it cools.

I didn't get the side burner, but I kind of wish I had one, in the current Genesis line its packaged with a Sear burner which I want too. I like the idea of cooking on the burner during BBQs. I feel it would give me more options.

I want one of the new Weber Genesis grills due to a few features the new ones have that the old ones didn't, getting NG as opposed to propane, and mainly grill envy. But the old one WON'T DIE.

I have no clue what brand mine is but it is from 2001 ish. It was my parents and when they moved they gave it to us. We have had to replace the insides but they are not that expensive and easy to replace.

DH just bought a Weber GEnesis because they were on sale as you mentioned. He had been looking for a while, and finally gave in to get the Weber!

Genesis is the middle of the line Weber grill - Spirit is the lowest end. Any reviews I have heard for these are great!

I have an older Weber Genesis here and a Weber Spirit in Florida. My Spirit was bought this year. The Spirit is the "lower" model, but I got the upgraded version with stainless grates. if you get cast iron grates on any grill, you have to do a ton of maintenance on them for upkeep which is a pain.

When it comes time to replace my grill up here, i'll probably go Genesis with all stainless (about $800-900).
