Wedding gift when not attending wedding
Do you send a financial gift when not attending? If so, how much?

Wedding gift when not attending wedding
Depends how close we are to the couple. If we are not close, we do not send a gift. I would say most people who did not attend our wedding, did not send us a gift.

Re: Wedding gift when not attending wedding
Maybe $50-100 but it would depend on who it is.. maybe more if we were close to them & I really regretted not being able to make it to the wedding I'd give more.... though a few times we were on the B/C/D list or invited as seat fillers basically & normally wouldn't have been invited so in those cases I wouldn't feel compelled to give a gift at all.

It depends who it is. People we aren't super close with I usually send something off the registry.

Re: Wedding gift when not attending wedding
Almost always I will still send a gift and generally the amount or maybe slightly less than what I would gift if I were to attend. It makes no difference to me that I'm not there. I still want to give a nice gift as if I attended.

Re: Wedding gift when not attending wedding
Yes, always. But it's usually much less than I would have given if I attended. For example, lets say we declined to attend a wedding of a (not close) friend, and we normally would have given $250 to attend, we would probably send around $100 in a card if we weren't attending.

Wedding gift when not attending wedding
As others have said, it really depends who is getting married and how close we are to them. There have been 1 or 2 weddings we didn't attend where we didn't send any gift. For others, however, we sent a small-ish ($50) gift off their registry or a gift card somewhere.

This. Also if they came to our wedding but we could not go to theirs I make sure to send a check with my response.

Re: Wedding gift when not attending wedding
I always send a gift when not attending a wedding, usually I send a $100 check with the rsvp card. A few times I sent a gift off the registry when it was for someone I wasn't close with at all ( like a distant cousin I had met only a handful of times) .

Re: Wedding gift when not attending wedding
I usually send $100. A gift from their registry would also be good, that's what we got from most of the people who couldn't attend our wedding.

Re: Wedding gift when not attending wedding
We've declined wedding invites only when we have clearly been B/C list guests (invited at the last minute because seats opened up), so we did not give gifts.
Under regular circumstances, I imagine we would, and it would depend upon how close we are to the people. I think we would do a registry gift if we weren't super close to them.
