How often do you go?
Do you take advantage of the programs they offer?

Yes. I just discovered that my library rents passes to all the local museums! It got 5 of us into the Museum of Modern Art for free. My daughter also volunteers at our library, so we are very involved.

I use to take my kids to many of the library programs when they were younger. My DD is a HUGE reader so the library is great for her, she has endless possibilities to feed her reading habit. Chat Icon

Re: The library. The place with books.

We moved a couple of years ago to a town that has an amazing library with fantastic programming. Before living here, I would go to the library every six months, if that. Now, we go every two weeks. Our town library is amazing.

We've been going once a week this whole summer. My DD loves reading and I've been reading a book a week too. Now that she is going into K, my library offers a lot more programs for her age group. She did an hour long program for 5 weeks this summer.

We are at the library at least once a week. My kids participate in many programs from summer reading club to chess. My older ones have logged lots of volunteer (service) hours. I've gone to several craft and cooking programs and we all love the summer concerts on the lawn. We've also borrowed museum passes and bought discounted admission tickets.
Oh, and we take out books, also!!

My kids are 2 and 4, so we do the programs at least once or twice a week. Our library also has a decent play area and on super hot days, I will take them there to burn off some energy.

Ours also has discounted and free passes and will take advantage of those. A friend of mine takes yoga there and she loves it

We take DD once a week to get books to read. Especially in the summer when she isn't in school and we need to keep her reading.

I don't go anymore- I used to get books there all the time

Now I use my Kindle to read

I try to take my dd to the library a few times a month- We take advantage of the programs for toddlers. I have not had a chance to take advantage of any of the adult programs. I generally download books from the library rather than borrowing paper books.

You can borrow library books using your Kindle. I had to start doing that because when I would go with DS it was impossible to get him into the adult section without him being loud.

To answer the question, we are at the library constantly, at least twice a week. The three of us are voracious readers, and we live within walking distance. I borrow magazines and movies there as well. DS and I both take programs there.

I'm also working on a master's in Library Science, so I might be a bit biased. Chat Icon

The library. The place with books.

I have not stepped foot in a library since I graduated law school in 2007.

I read all the time but I buy my books or get them from others.

We go at least twice a week.

We do the summer reading program every summer.

Yesterday, our library hosted a book exchange. My kids turned in dozens of books for new ones.

We use the museum passes although they book far in advance.

Rent DVD's and movies.

I reserve books, do inter-library loan and download to my kindle through the on-line portal.

Starting in middle school, kids can fulfill the SD's volunteer hours by helping out at the children's programs

We go every week or every other week. The kids like to take out books.

I also reserve books for both them and myself online and pick them up once they are in.

We do the kids programs all the time. My girls love it and it's been a great resource for me to get to know other young families in town. I love the sense of community it's given us.

This is awesome! We just got our cards this week for our town. I have never taken advantage off the programs so it's nice to hear so many people do.

I love my local library. It's small but cozy, and though it does not have a huge selection I usually find things I want. Also, I'm able to get anything I want through the Mid-Hudson System, which is huge. I also borrow lots of ebooks- it's nice to be able to borrow books after hours and not have to buy Kindle books.

They have great kids' programs too, though I feel like many of them are geared for older and younger kids.

I have now racked up fines on my own and both dds cards. In just waiting for the times of year they accept donations to pay off fines!

We are there too often lol 1-2x a week depending on how many programs I signed my daughter up for. I love their free museum passes. We have a great library. Always something going on.
