SPINOFF- LIRR
Im on the port washington line and have delays in the morning MAYBE once a year. The train was late by ONE MINUTE last week and people were huffing and puffing!
Which stop do you take and how long does it take you on average to get to Penn?
How often are you delayed? is it more frequent in the AM or PM?
I get on at Douglaston and it takes 28-31 minutes.

Re: SPINOFF- LIRR
I started taking the LIRR after getting annoyed with the express bus. 2 hours from Midtown to Bayside on a super express that makes only one stop in the city. Now it takes me 21 minutes from Penn to Bayside on the express train. Even with walking to/from my office, I make out waaayyyy better. So far so good.

I take tbe Ronkonkoma branch from Ronkonkoma and if I get an express it's an hour and 15 . Delays are pretty frequent. And cancelations for derailed trains, suicides etc. More in the morning I would say....but happens at night too. Even after rush hour...like 8 pm on on ocassion

Re: SPINOFF- LIRR
I'm on PW line as well. I live in Port and take express. 35 min. I will say only twice in the last year I had issues in the morning. But more and more the evening is cancelled and combined going local or cancelled. Just the other day I got an alert saying my train cancelled due to signal problems. Then next alert moments later said switch problems. Third alert said someone on tracks. Which is it? Frustrating, it's a joke. It's at least once a week now there is an issue. Let alone 3x this week!

DH is on the PW line too. Seems like his PM express train has been cancelled a lot recently so he has to take the next local train. It happened this evening actually. And he was also delayed getting to Penn so it adds up. Tonight, his delays added up to about 45 minutes more than expected.

I'm on ronkonkoma branch from Farmingdale. It's 50 mins and morning is usually not bad but nights have delays unless I leave early to pick up my DS.

Babylon line. Takes about 50 minutes or so, not counting the time I spend waiting because it's late. Delays are moreso at night, but morning is no picnic, either.
I hate everything about the LIRR. So, so much hate.

Re: SPINOFF- LIRR
I very rarely take the LIRR, but I take it to/from Lynbrook but I get off at Hunters Point to take the 7 into Grand Central. I find the delays are a lot more frequent in the mornings than the evening. The AM train has been consistently at least 5- 10 minutes late where the PM train is rarely late and if it is it's only about a minute or two.
ETA: I'm the Long Beach line.

Yup. From Bethpage or Hicksville and there always seems to be a problem. It's awful. Not to mention there are never seats on these trains. I hate the LIRR. If I needed to work in the city we would be moving out if here.

I used to take the Ronkonkoma line from Ronkonkoma when I lived on LI, it is the absolute worst line to be on. I always said that it is the redheaded stepchild of the LIRR system. if someone is going to jump in front of train, they pick the Ronkonkoma line, if there are problems on other lines they take trains from Ronkonkoma to give to them. Always delayed, I swear that train was never on time morning or night when I took it.
I do not miss LIRR at all!

Babylon line. Express train originates at my stop and is always a few min early and waits until departure time to leave. It is never ever late. Takes 60 min to Penn. delays are pretty seldom thank goodness.
