I would stay away from Almond cake. It is too popular of an allergy for people. Though, most people with an Almond allergy (myself included) have to be careful with anything from a bakery because Almond is used in so many things.
I hosted a large party for an adult milestone birthday few weeks ago and we did white cake with cookies and cream filling. People seemed to really enjoy it and there was not that much left over and it was a huge cake. Usually I am left with so much cake after a party so I am assuming it was really good.
Just keep in mind you aren't going to please everyone so just pick an option to have the bakery come up with a combo and don't lose sleep over it.

i would do vanilla or chocolate with a pudding or custard filling... alot of people are weird about the fruit filled cakes, so i would just keep it simple
This. Is hate fruit filling in my cake. I don't love almond flavored cake. Tastes so fake to me. I'd do pudding or buttercream or chocolate ganache type of filling with with cake and whit/vanilla frosting.

I love all interesting cakes and desserts but also you can never go wrong with a vanilla cake with vanilla or chocolate filling. I also go with pudding or whipped cream over buttercream unless the bakery is tried and true.

For some reason when I read this I thought about the movie Steel Magnolias when the woman made an Armadillo cake and the inside was blood red, lol.

i love almond, vanilla, raspberry jam, rainbow layer cakes and vanilla frosting. i dont like chocolate cake.
