LOANER CAR
has anyone taken a loaner car to Canada? Is that even allowed? I was planning on driving to Montreal this weekend but something is wrong with my headlights so Im getting a loaner. The mechanic said he doesnt want me taking HIS loaner to Canada( as if its really his personal car. ) , but I wonder if its technically allowed??

LOANER CAR
If it's a dealer loaner they usually put something in the contract that says the car must remain within a certain mile radius of the dealer. The last loaner I had it was within 100 miles.

There are plenty of rental companies that have stipulations in their contracts as to how far you can take a car. Some restrict how far from the rental location, some states, some countries.
Why not ask the service adviser or manager at the dealership?

Re: LOANER CAR
My DH works for a luxury car manufacturer and we get company cars. When we went to Canada, his company gave us a letter saying it was okay for the car to leave the country. I can't recall them asking for this specific piece of paper at the border but I wouldn't have gone without it. Definitely ask the dealership/service advisor!

LOANER CAR
When I rented a car in California the contract said the car could not be taken out of the country, like to Mexico. Definitely check the contract or ask about it.
