Did you watch fireworks?

Do you watch any fireworks shows on July 4th? I realize that some people do multiple options, but we don't have that option in the polls.

DC watched some of the neighbors shooting off fairly large fireworks. They were coming from a few locations, so it's not just one person shooting them off.

We also watched the Macy's 4th of July special on TV. That one is just amazing. Roughly 56,000 shells fired off. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We've been to the Bald Hill show a few times in the past, but the traffic after the show is horrendous, so we don't bother any more.

We go every year in our local town (were OOS now). We own a condo there and have the perfect view. This year we hosted our friends that came to visit us from NY they had a blast!

We watched a show at the beach on Sunday night. Not many people light them in my neighborhood so we didn't see any last night.

ETA: my town has them on Saturday night so we will see them then as well.

Valley Stream hosts a yearly fireworks show at Fireman's Field. Luckily, we're close enough that we can ride our bikes to it.

Did you watch fireworks?

We went to a big show on Sunday night, then watched the Macy's fireworks on TV and were surprised with a pretty big neighborhood display from our bedroom window.

Friends live on the North shore, on the water in a small community that has it's own fireworks show over the water. We are invited every year - it's so beautiful

Sat on my back deck and watched the show from the country club on the other side of the street. Best seats in the house!

We were travelling to the USVI. Plane delays caused us to miss the fireworks here and the broadcast from NY.

Did you watch fireworks?

We sat in the back yard watching people from the neighborhood do them. It was really loud last night from the amount of people shooting off fireworks. We couldn't keep up on which direction to look.

Did you watch fireworks?

Sunday night we stayed on the boat overnight and were able to see fireworks all along the south shore.

Monday night we just saw what was going on in the neighborhood.

We can't do that anymore either. It's not worth sitting in 3 hours worth of traffic trying to get out of that parking lot.

It gives me a panic attack.

I feel like as much as I'd like to go see fireworks somewhere- there really are no options that don't involve crowds, parking nightmares and traffic hell.

It's sad really

Re: Did you watch fireworks?

I am wondering why they don't just legalize fireworks in NY. They obviously don't enforce the fact that they are "illegal" here.

People have been shooting them off since Friday in my neighborhood till all hours of the night. I drove by a cul de sac on the way to work this morning and it looked like a war zone with all the paper and remnants of them.

It's obviously not a law that anyone cares to enforce so why not legalize it already? They can make some tax money no?

ITA
They should teach safety courses to people before they buy them. Most of the people get a hand or limb blown off because they go to check on "duds" SMH
And people have to stop lighting them with BBQ lighters etc. Chat Icon That's why they sell slow long fuses.

Re: Did you watch fireworks?

Technically...
It's illegal in the city limits

however.. we have tons of Country Clubs and with Six Flags, Sea World, 4 military bases and two PGA golf courses and not to mention other country clubs there's tons of places to see fireworks all over town. You don't have to go very far.

Still, I'm a stones throw from one of the PGA tour country clubs and the border of town so we go outside and blow stuff up. I spent $50 and get AJ a whole box of snaps. She loves them. Throws them on the ground and puts them behind my wheels so when I back up they pop. We share them too. She doesn't like sparklers but sits in the back of my SUV and watches the other fireworks go off. Watches the neighbors who spend tons on their really nice ones.

It's our thing. She wears glow bracelets, we hang out inside until it's dark watching TV, eating, hanging out with her friends (this is all at our friend's house who has a kid two years older than her), she loves it. Easy access to food, drink, comfy, fireworks, .. tired? Go inside. Cold, grab a blanket, hot? grab a cold drink. Every firework holiday.. New years, 4th, etc.

We go back inside, she changes into her jammies (out of smokey clothes) plays until she passes out, we carry her out to the car, she wakes up only to hear the popping of her snaps and the few that get caught in my tires as I roll away. LOL Chat Icon

This year we also went downtown to watch a light show against one of our historical cathedrals, which was cool.

My parents live within walking distance. However it was beyond crowded so I sat on my parents stoop and watched the whole show.

Normally, no, just whatver we see around the neighborhood. The street behind us always does fireworks and we have an awesome view from my sons bedroom window.

This year we were in the Magic Kingdom for the 4th. The fireworks themselves were AMAZING. However, if you don't enjoy standing shoulder to should with 20K people in what feels like a wet fart, then I don't recommend it.
