And this is why i skeeve hotels and we never go away....ever!! Update at bottom!
So we are on a family vacation staying at a timeshare our inlaws own and today is day 5 here. We leave on saturday. There are 18 of us staying here in 3 different suits. Dh, me and our 3 kids have 1 suit to ourselves. We came in from dinner tonight and i walk into the kids bedroom and see something right by my DD's pillow. IT'S A FUC@*&^G BEDBUG! i am beyond skeeved. Dh grabbed it with a paper towel and we brought it down to the manager. They say they will take full responsibility and have our stuff cleaned and they will move our room. Security is supposed to be coming to our room to inspect and help us move and we came bavk up to pack. I am sitting on the patio with the kids refusing to go in the room. I am bryond sick! We are supposed to go back to disney tomorrow and i just want to go home and this nightmare to be over with!!!!

I am beyond skeeved! DH went to the new room they gave us and tore apart the beds to make sure all was good before the kids and I went in tbere and he found a small bug in one of the beds. So they had to give us another room which dh checked and it was good. We are not staying on disney property. We are staying at a sheraton resort about 10 minutes away from disney.

Yep! Vistana villages! We found the first onenin bldg 11 and the secind in bldg 5. We are in bldg 7 now and didn't see anything.

we def aren't letting it ruin our trip :) the kids slept at my inlaws suit since by thebtime we were done last night it was almost 1am. Dh and i got no sleep and still got out of bed at 6am to start the day.

I would die!!!!!! But seriously I wouldn't even be able to stay in another room even if it was for free! But at the same time I can only imagine how hard it must be finding a different hotel at that time.
Good that u're not letting this ruin ur vacation though!

That is horrifying and I would not be able to sleep a wink after that for the rest of the trip.
But on the upside, at least they did everything they could to help rectify it, unlike Great Wolf who likes to deny they have a problem at every turn.
So at least there's that.

We are heading back to the hotel now. Someone was supposed to contact us this morning once they spoke to pest control. We have nit been contacted yet. Dh is fuming, rhis should be top priority. They shoild beblettingnus know whats going on. We have an extermintor that isnkne of dh's clients and we called him last night. He said at that point the hotel was doing everything right. We sent him a pic of the bed bug so he can positively identify it for us incase yhe hotel tried to say it's not a bed bug. He said there is no question. I am disgusted! If we didn't have dinner at cinderella's castle tonight for my DD we'd be on thenfirst flight home. They straned oir suitcases last night and back oacks but we are throwing thwm out as soon as we get home. Neother of us has slept. We are exhausted!

Ugh what a nightmare. Try to educate yourselves on best practices for cleaning your belongings of bed bugs and question the hotel about how they plan to do it and make sure it's done right. The LAST thing you need is to bring a bug or egg home with you and create a problem in your own home.

I know it sucks but as long as you keep everything outside when you get home, they won't coming to your house.
Have everyone immediately strip down and put all the clothes in garbage bags and wash them immediately on the hottest water possible. That goes for clothes in the suitcase also.
Anything that cant be washed, put it outside in direct sun shine for a few days.

Because im a germaphobe and nervous about this stuff to begin with u have already educated myself and we have also spoken to our exterminator in NY. Everything in the suitcases and anything else that can be were already washed and dried on highest heat. We were up until 1am last night doing this. The kids slept in my MIL's suit. All their clothes that yhey slept in went right in the washer when they got up this morning and EVERYTHING is tightly sealed in huge bags that the hotel provided us with. We are going to buy more space saver bags, our clothes were already in space saver bags when we left ny. I am so disgusted right now. I know this haopens in hotels and resorts, but to see the darn thing as soon as i entered the room after a dinner out, im so skeeved!

It used to be a very nice, clean place. Now, my kids feet are BLACK within 5 minutes ofnwalking on the rug. That disgusted me and i tried to keep their flip flops on when in the room. But telling that to two 5 year olds and a 3 year old is lokentalking to a wall. So i dealt with the black feet and planned on complaining upon check out. But then this happened and I am now done. We spoke to the front desk mgr and he had the room insoected by Orkin a d we made them inspect both of the other suits our family was in. Thise two they found nothing. But they were now trating our old room because they found more. Ew!!! Dh spoke to the mgr on the phone after we got back to disney and he asked him what happens god forbid we haopen to bring something home. And the mgr said well we cant guarantee that they werent already in your home or they didn't come from the plane. Im so p!ssed! We have a meeting with management first thing in the morning!

And this is why i skeeve hotels and we never go away....ever!!
So, the manager gave us a free five night stay good until next year. He also waived the house keeping charge and gave us a $75 credit to use on drinks and lunch at the pool today. I didn't want the five night stay because let's be real, i'm never coming back here. But we took it anyway and we can decide what we want to do at a later time. He promised that we will be in a newly renovated suit and orkin will come in to inspect the room upon arrival. But then, we are at the pool with the rest of our family and my niece, who is staying in a different suit, has three little bites on her arm and three little bites on her leg. My SIL took her to an urgent care because my niece scratched her arm and opened one of the bites and it started to look swollen. The dr told her it looks very well like bed bug bites! She got a report from the dr. So, my niece was bitten most likely by bed bugs. Orkin was also sent to my SIL's suit after we found the BB because we wanted all suits in our party inspected. They only looked at the mattresses. Not the box springs, not the couches, curtains or anything else. DH and my SIL are with the mgr now. I just want to go home and tbis nightmare to be over with!! I am so disgusted right now, my skin is crawling!

I am beyond pissed. The guy tried to tell me when we met with him this morning that just because they are in one room doesn't mean they are in another. I shut him up real quick when i told him everything inhad already known about bed bugs and how fast they travel. And this is why i never travel and why i hate hotels!

that sucks.. hopefully it is just an isolated infestation because the last 6 months of lowest rating reviews on trip advisor don't mention bed bugs just things like dampness.
When we travel we drive which eliminates the chance of bed bugs from the plane, and we still ended up on a trip where we discovered them the second morning on our bed(which was also check out). It delayed the second part of our trip, which was Disney, and we had to argue with the credit card to get the full hotel refunded.

Ugh, i don't even want tongo on vacation anymore. This was seriously our first major vacation since 2009. We only stayed in a hotel twice since then and only over night. We got home today and we didn't even take our luggage in. My brother picked us up from the airport and brought us big black lawn and leaf bags to put all our stuff in before putting them on the car. Before we left the resort, we washed and dried everything on the highest heat setting and packed them in large ziploc bags. When we got home we immediately took the bags out of our suitcase on our back deck and took them to the laundrymat and rewashed and dried everything. We then threw our suitcases to the curb in the black garbage bags. Our clothes we slept in last nigbt we woke up super early amd washed and dried those and put them in the ziploc bags. I stripped on my back deck when we got home and rsn in the house for fresh clothes. Then i grabbed clothes for dh and he stripped. I stripped the kids outside and immediately bathed them. Dh got home from the laundrymat about an hour ago. And he is washing them one mkre time in our own washer and drier. We are definitely going overboard but i don't want to take any chances. All shoes were also taken to the laundrymat. All of our backpacks were thrown out. This definitely is not an isolated incident. We were sent to a new room in a new building and dh checked the bed before we went in and found a bedbug in that room. The third room the sent us too seemed to be fine but i doubt it. My niece was bitten by bed bugs on our last day there. Or likely the night before. She was only in our room for 15 minutes the first day we arrived. So they were most likely from her room. Im so grossed out, as you can imagine! Literally traumatized! I left a review on trip advisor, im waiting for it to post. It's currently pending approval. I also left a review on yelp and wrote an email to sheraton corporate. Ugh!!
