Do I tip the guys installing a swing set?
If so- how much?
Sorry - just want to be prepared.
They say it'll take 5 hours to do.

I do think I would or you need to, you are paying for it to be installed.

Oh, I agree.
The damn thing costs an arm and a leg. I paid extra for installation. I wasn't thinking I should tip - but these days, who knows!

For something like that yes I would tip.
We had the liner changed in our pool last month and it cost an arm and a leg, yes, but the guys who did it worked their asses off for HOURS in nasty weather. They were supposed to have 4 men but 2 got stuck on another job so they did a huge job by themselves. They did an amazing job and we felt they deserved it

I would not tip. You paid extra already tfor installation. I am sick of tipping people for doing a job they were hired for.

I personally would tip them (if they did a good job) because it's the "nice" thing to do...but not because I feel it's required.

We tipped $20 each, even though we paid $200 for install. But I'll tell ya, if I could take it back, I would. My DH tipped them right as it was almost done and had to leave bc our 7 week old was in the hospital. Those assholes left cigarette butts all over my deck and left all the packaging for us to dispose of. Sorry for my rant, but I won't be tipping again for someone to do their job.

exactly this. its their job to do that I don't know why they would expect a tip. I don't get tip for doing my job.
tipping is out of control.
the only people I truly 100% believe in tipping is waiter, waitresses. I always generously tip them. and also nail and hair people as long as they are not the owner because all these people count on their tips for making money

This
the only way i'd give them a tip is if there was some extraneous circumstance that popped up above and beyond the installation (like they had to chop a bush down or something like that)
Otherwise, you've paid for installation - doesn't matter if it goes to them or not - they're getting paid by the company to do their job too.

I think a cold drink and maybe lunch, this is their job. When you say appreciation you make it sound like they are doing it out the goodness of their hearts or volunteers.
They are neither, this is their job.
I don't care what people end up doing, I just don't believe the world needs to get tipped for everything, and for doing their job. Its not me responsibility to buy lunch either on top of paying thousands for a play set. .
I work extremely hard for my income and at my job everyday, I don't get tipped for doing what I am paid to do.
If people were asked should I tip my OB-GYN for helping me through a preg, people say hell no, they got paid by the insurance company???
I don't get it:)

But the issue lies in the fact that you only tip those industries bc you KNOW how little they get paid. I think it's safe to say that these guy COULD be getting paid peanuts. Do they not deserve to supplement their income as well? Listen...I totally agree the tipping is out of control...but that doesn't mean it's not the right thing to do.
