Is anyone else mildly panicking over all of the food recalls lately?
A couple of weeks ago it was frozen vegetables, the beginning of this week it was flour, now my Facebook newsfeed had a story that General Mills is recalling Nature's Valley granola bars due to listeria concerns. What the hell do I eat?!
And it's not even conventional vs. organic. Cascadian Farms and Trader Joe's have these recalls constantly. It's everything lately.

OMG are you serious? I eat those granola bars daily! Is there a link posted for the granola bars?

http://www.generalmills.com/sunflowerseeds
I googled for more information since my news feed made it sound like all of them were being recalled. They're recalling four varieties and it's the ones with sunflower seeds.

I'm not concerned really but I wish there was a better system of knowing. Like you hear it on the news and they tell you some code number on the package but what if you ate it two weeks ago and tossed out the bag? You would never know.
I wish they would have a card that you could scan any time you bought food products anywhere and that you'd get alerts if anything you bought has been recalled.

This is a great idea. ShopRite tracks everything on my card, including when I earn my free turkey around Thanksgiving and Easter, so they should be able to track something like recalls.

When they had the almond butter recalls I got a call. I think it was from Stop & Shop.

BJ's does this. I received an email, phone call, and a letter in the mail about their recall

No, I need to drop a few pounds so I would welcome a bout of food poisoning or two.

You know I got a phone call about the flour and was trying to figure out if they knew I had bought their flour recently or what list I was on I guess from the supermarket tracking my purchases.

This is the reason I did not hesitate to eat cold cuts my whole pregnancy, in the last few years listeria seemed to be in everything but.

Re: Is anyone else mildly panicking over all of the food recalls lately?
i've started a terrace "farm". tomatoes, cucumbers, i have 2 avocado trees in my living room which will hopefully fruit in my lifetime. garlic next.
at least i'll know where my food comes from. i don't think i'm panicking, just being proactive.

Re: Is anyone else mildly panicking over all of the food recalls lately?
shoprite had called with a message on my machine about the dole salad recalls b/c i buy them almost every week. I had already used whatever I had so I coudnt check, and then they pulled whatever was left.
but yes, the recalls are out of control, and its organic and non organic stuff.
perdue recalled their oganic nuggets by applegate farms I believe b/c of plastic parts. NICE....
