REpost from Parenting - pool party Sunday

Supposed to rain all day Sunday and we have a pool party to celebrate our boy's birthday. Supposed to have about 40 people over. WE do have a big basement for the kids, but debating if we should move it to next week. My only issue is you move it and it rains next weekend. We have plans Saturday, but would move it to next Sunday.

Keep it as is and see how it goes even though every weatherman is saying "super soaker all day Sunday"
Have the kids play in the basement and serve the food inside

Change it to next Sunday and may have a chance of some friends not able to come and it could also rain then too.

Thoughts?

I would just do it in the basement. This time of year is so hard with graduations and everything that I would be worried about people not being able to make it. If you have the room I would move it inside.

Have to agree. For May-June our weekends are booked solid with communions, graduations, showers and bday parties. I would keep the date and make the best of it. Maybe you can hire some last minute kids entertainment to come over.

Three years ago we were supposed to have a pool party for my daughter. Weather called for rain so we postponed it. Next weekend same thing. Postponed it again (small party only really close friends and family coming) and again called for rain. Wound up canceling the party... kicker is that day wound up being cloudy in the morning and then beautiful and we could have had it but it was too late by then and I was tired of postponing.

This. I would hope for the best with regards to the weather but just prep your house should it need to be moved indoors. Postponing parties is so hard in general but at this time of year with so many other things going on it's even tougher. Just make indoor provisions and hopefully it ends up being a beautiful day and everyone is outside. Chat Icon

Just keep this weekend and have it indoors. You don't know what next week's weather will be.
Who knows, it might not even be a total washout. You might have some time in the pool.

This.

If it wasn't a kids party, I would suggest still have the party outside. Going in the pool when it's raining is so much fun!

I would have it indoors. This season is so busy; you could end up losing many of the guests.

Re: REpost from Parenting - pool party Sunday

Thanks! Because we're busy the other weekends and the basement and house is big enough we'll just have it inside and hoping for the best. Who knows if it could rain again on the rain date. WE'll just keep the food inside. Kids can play in or outside and adults can eat and drink inside.
