Is this weird?
I don't take the lirr much any more so maybe I am missing something. I get on an express train and the car is like 1/3 full. I grab the window seat of a 2 seater. Some big guy gets on and sits next to me. Meanwhile there are completely empty 2 seaters and the 3 seaters w someone by the window.
I know the train isn't going to fill up so the next stop before its express I get up and move. Now the train is going express with no stops to Penn and the train is like barely 50% full. Plenty of seats for everyone w out us being on top of each other.

Is this weird?
My husband has always told me that, as a big guy, he always looked to sit next to girls because there was a little more room. However, I doubt he'd do that if the train was 1/2 empty.

Is this weird?
I ride LIRR everyday and this happens all of the time! For me it is they take the middle seat in a 3 seater when there are open seats everywhere, I never understand it. I see many WEIRD things on a daily basis, I could write a book!

I ride LIRR every day - I learned my lesson early and never sit in a window seat - EVER. That way I can get up and move whenever I want, for whatever reason

This is so true....guys always sit next to me when there are other seats available. So annoying.

Is it weird to ME? Yes, most definitely. But this is the LIRR. It's a hot flucking mess.
I also find it weird that grown men run for their lives as soon as a track is announced to get to the platform, when 99% of the time the train isn't even there yet. Yes, I get they want a seat, but the sprinting is really unnecessary.

Weird, but I think people do it just to get a rise out of others. Like, they wake up, and say "Lets see who I can annoy the sh*t out of on the train today".

I always sit on the end seat now so I can escape if needed.
I once had a guy sit two seats away and start to masturbate in an empty LIRR car. I will never sit by the window again.

Yes, also some peopel just don't want to have to get up again.
If I am going to sit on the aisle of a 3 seater, I prefer one with someone already in the window seat. If both seats are empty, either I have to get up for someone to sit in the window , or worse, 2 people who want to sit together will want to get int here & it will be tight and/or loud.
I saw someone today pass up multiple seats even though it meant walking against the flow of traffic to an area that had fewer options.
I think she just didn't want to sit backwards.( I know that bothers some people.) Or she just liked making her own life difficult.
Daily commuting makes you do crazy things!
