Re: Antibiotic question

What kind of antibiotic , what's it for and how long of a dose do you have?

I know with a Z-pack for something like a sinus infection or throat issue - I start feeling better by the second dose (which is 3 pills in)

But when I'm on something that's 10 days worth, it can take a good 4 full days to start feeling some relief.

Worse in what way? Sometimes the antibiotic will reduce the swelling causing you to drain a lot, which can make you feel worse. Also now they are saying a lot of sinus infections are viral not bacterial so antibiotics might not work. Tonsillitis can also be viral. Which might be why you are not feeling much better as a whole.

All of this

Try to rest as much as you can. Rest, hot soup, and steam to help drain sinus.

Re: Antibiotic question

they gave u keflex for that?? My dr. gave me that when I had a nail infection and an infected cyst on my skin. he said it was a great med for nails, skin infections and such.

interesting.

Maybe its not the right med for what you need to treat.

I have a Kidney issue so I'm limited to what I can take

Thanks to the above, I'll just keep resting, soups and hope this passes soon

If it were a bacterial sinus infection you should be feeling a lot better today. My guess is that its viral...and only time and rest really helps. If it continues to be miserable see the doctor for a possible antibiotic switch, but the one you were prescribed treats gram + and - bacteria's so it should cover whatever you have.

Feel better!!

I've had sinus infections that wouldn't fully clear up with certain antibiotics and I've needed multiple doses of stronger meds. If you're not seeing improvement by now, I'd call your dr.

I agree. There's a nasty viral respiratory infection going around right now. Our entire household caught it along with about 4 other families we were at a get together with. Antibiotics did nothing to help any of us. We made a FB group and added everyone that got sick to it. It's interesting to hear what everyone elses doctor has prescribed them and all of us had the same symptoms around the same time despite being on all different meds. Viruses just have to run their course. It took almost a week and a half to start feeling better. I would check back in with your doctor just to be on the safe side but if it's a virus, there isn't much you can do Chat Icon I hope you feel better soon!
