HR people please come in. ? about medical coverage
My company rolled out our new options 4 friday afternoon and they are only giving us until Tuesday to decide what plan we want.
They have not provided us with all the required info, and its not enough time to make sure which if any of our current Physicians are even in the plans.
Is this legal? can a company only allow 2 days for employees to decide?
I cant believe it would be, at the very least its unrealistic and unfair.
My old company gave us 30 days to look everything over and decide.
Ps the most $$ gold plan and my current plan are suppose to have the most providers. My co-worker looked into the plan and was only able to find ONE provider she can use.
TIA

Companies don't have to offer insurance at all. Not aware of regulated amount of time for switching.
You should be able to use their website to find accepting providers. Usually it only takes a few mins.
Sorry, this sucks.

It's not nice, but I doubt it's illegal. Last year, my school gave one day to decide about dental, and overall the quality of insurance has decreased each year while the cost has increased. It's unfortunate.

I'm not sure about how long they have to give you to decide, but if they gave you the options on Friday, that also gave you and everyone else the weekend to do your research on the various plans. Don't go by what one coworker said about it. If you have questions, contact your HR department first thing in the morning today to set up an appointment right away.

what I find is , the site may say a dr's office accepts but, when you call the DR they no longer accept.
WE looked together, she needs a psychiatrist and they only offered one.
I need every type of Dr but a Psy lol
Also, our company gave the plans a "name" but its not a name known to Aetna, ex,
Our company brokers calls the newer plan being offered as the "new silver plan" that means nothing to Aetna bc they dont offered a plan under that name. So, I dont know what the real name is to research. The insurance companies are closed on weekends.
I really gave the CFO an ear full last week.
I am paying 60% + more a month, less DR high co-pays and more $ for my scripts!!!
We have ONE HR person and she as NO say in our health coverage only the CFO does.

I think you'll have a hard time with a lot of plans covering mental health professionals. I don't think it's a testament to how good or bad a plan is.
My plan is great as far as general practitioners, emergency services, hospitals, even specialists like dermatologists. When it comes to mental health, there are only like 4 doctors that are covered on all of LI. A lot of the plans I looked at were the same. Insurance companies don't seem to place a lot of importance on mental health.
