Do you use a mattress pad on your bed?

DH and I were discussing this recently. I have always had a mattress pad on my beds, since I was a child. I thought everyone put these on their beds. DH said he never used them growing up or until I came along basically, which is crazy to me.

I can't stand feeling the mattress material through my sheets, it just feels wrong to me. Wondering what the norm is, maybe I'm weird?

So mine got destroyed when my water broke and I never ended up replacing it. I use them for both of my kids though.

Re: Do you use a mattress pad on your bed?

We have a heated mattress pad on our bed and it's GLORIOUS. I especially love it in the winter when the sheets would normally be cold getting into bed and instead they're nice and toasty Chat Icon

Prior to our heated mattress pad though, we didn't have one and I have to say, our mattress looks gross because of it. Chat Icon

I do just because my DS will sleep with me here and there and I am always prepared for the worst with him.

Yes when we bought our mattress they recommended this mattress paid that really protects it- because apparently if it gets any kind of stains on it, the warranty is void.
Considering our mattress was as expensive as my parents' first car, we went for it.

It's super nice and keeps us cool, etc

ETA- and thank God we bought a good one from the furniture store we got our DD's new mattress and "big girl" furniture from because last week she threw up in bed and it leaked right through the sheets and onto the mattress pad but not a drop got through to her brand new mattress! Chat Icon

To keep stains off the mattress, which would void the warranty, we have a waterproof one and another quilted one on top of that.
I like the softness and cushion of having a mattress pad under the sheet.

We have a waterproof mattress protector. Not a mattress pad. We have pets, one who has peed on the bed before. This way it's protected.

I really mean either. I use them for comfort reasons as well as for protection. The ones on my kids beds are more so for accidents and the one on my bed is mostly to make the bed more comfortable but I did buy a waterproof one when I was pregnant in case my water broke in bed.

We got suckered into buying the one from the furniture store for $100. Could kick myself when I saw them for MUCH cheaper after that.
After $3,000 + for everything, what was another $100. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have a nice thick mattress pad now, but I only got it, because my mattress is old and really needs to be replaced, and it helps. But up until a few years ago, I never had one.

Re: Do you use a mattress pad on your bed?

We had a thick pad on our old mattress because it was terrible. Our new mattress is a thick pillow top so it doesn't need one. We have a thin cover because it was required for the warranty but it's not padded.
