Friend on an Alcoholic bender - Any advice : Update: Second update
Update: The person cheeking on her has made contact!! She is super drunk but ok. He is going to try and see if she will check herself into the hospital.

Update #2- Her estranged husband had actually been working on finding her a rehab place. Our mutual friend spent all day with her, took her to the hospital. They released her only because they had proof of her going to rehab.
She spent the night at a neighbors. And someone is driving her to the airport and making sure she gets on the plane.
Right now she is on the plane going to rehab.
I knew something was TERRIBLY wrong. For a few weeks I have been trying to find her. I never gave up. And frankly posting what I did on her Facebook page ("hey anyone have her address") lead to this. It might have saved her life.
If you think and KNOW something is wrong and you can try, I say try. I'm not saying she wont go on a bender again in her life. But at least right her, right now I have tried.
To those of you who deal with this in your lives my heart goes out to you. I have had a *taste* of a friend. I know people live with this.

I have known this woman for 5 years. We were work friends but it became more.
I have never been to her house etc. But we have been good friends for years.
About 3 weeks ago she dropped off the face of the earth.
Making a long story short. I did sleuthing. I would NOT give up on her.
I posted on her FB page and someone got back to me. He has our friends husbands email. They are estranged.
The husband said she is an alcoholic and has been on a bender for 3 weeks.
The friend is on the way to her house right now (1:20 pm on may 5th). The neighbor has a key and will let him in.
He is prepared to call 911 and get her admitted to the hospital. So I am waiting to see what we CAN do.
Any advice is appreciated. I KNEW something was terribly wrong. And I text her every day that I will NOT give up on her.
I thought that possibly the husband beat her up...I just didn't know. Maybe he raped her?
So I will know more when he gets to the apartment.
Just say a prayer for her well being. And if anyone has advice please let me know.

Prayers surrounding her! She's lucky to have you both as friends and praying you are able to help her, bc it's not always easy, they need to want it for themself.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do if the person doesn't want help.
Calling the police and getting her admitted will only result in a 72 hold and only if they feel she is a risk to herself. The police won;t even take her in unless she is threatening to hurt herself or sick and agrees to go in the ambulance

You are a very caring friend. I am very familiar with this. Glad she is on a plane because my first thought is there really isn't much choices of places around here compared to elsewhere. Wishing the best for her.
