Where do you get your political info from
This is the first year I am ever paying attention (how sad, I am 35).
I am so confused. Many of my friends on facebook tell me who they are voting for and why. Most of them aren't accurate about what they say. Some of my friends just say I am voting for X because its my party, or I am voting for X because my parents do. Some give information on their page that is downright insane. It might be a Photo-shopped image or a quote that never happened. It scares me that people are making their decisions based on fake social media posts.
So, my question is, where do you get your reputable political information? Obviously I know fox news or cnn might be skewed towards a particular party, I just want to find a source that gives facts about both parties equally. If that even exists

Re: Where do you get your political info from
I am older than you and this is my first year too paying attention. I do think there is much more social media though this time around so it is hard not to miss.
I personally watch CNN. I have friends who work for CNN and MSNBC and I get first info from them too.

Personally, I just watch the Daily Show, @midnight, and talk to my husband, who's more informed than me. :)
I think he prefers politico.com, http://fivethirtyeight.com/, and MSNBC (mainly Rachel Maddow).

I am a democrat so I do watch MSNBC but I can tell you that that is not always the best place to get unbiased news, in the same way Fox news isn't lol
CNN or BBC IMO are the best places to get mostly unbiased political info

Mostly the major news networks, although it's tough to find news, mostly everything is an opinion. Candidates websites are a good source sometimes to get into on what they stand for. For world news in general I like BBC and AL Jareeza. Fox, MSNBC, Jon Stewart, Jon Oliver for entertainment.

Re: Where do you get your political info from
I listen to the Rachel Maddow Show via podcast on my way to work in the morning (it's the show from the previous evening)
I also read BBC, politico and the NY Times.
I watch The Daily Show on occasion. I go through phases of watching it religiously or not at all.

Daily show, major news networks that aren't fox. I also follow a variety of political pages on Facebook- politico, politifact, to name a few.
ETA: if I read a story, I'll check several sources to see if it's accurate.

Re: Where do you get your political info from
I am often tipped off as to a big news issue by facebook or the daily show, but then I usually go read nytimes and washington post. for election results I will go to fox and cnn.

NPR, BBC, The NY Times and The Washington Post. I enjoy MSNBC but more for entertainment than anything.

I like MSNBC but take it with a grain of salt because it's slanted.
I refer to factcheck.org and politifact.com when I want to find unbiased info.

Re: Where do you get your political info from
I am on a political and current event message board, so I get a lot of links on there.
I'm kind of tired of BBC, so I've moved to the Guardian. NY times, WaPo, NPR, Al Jazeera English, spiegel.de, 538, Politico.
I'm sure I'm missing a few, but a variety of sources. I need to because I teach Conversation classes to American Studies students. Luckily, most of them agree on US politics, so that's a breath of fresh air compared to other places

Re: Where do you get your political info from
538 does a statistical analysis, so it's fairly unbiased. Nate Silver, who correctly predicted the last two elections, runs the site.
I always check CNN, Politico, and RealClearPolitics. To get a full understanding about what people are thinking I check out Democratic Underground and Red State (blogs from the liberal and coservative view).
Politifact and Snopes are good for checking accuracy.

I wish Snopes' website wasn't so horrible. It's amazing that their design hasn't changed in over 10+ years and I still get pop ups when I go there. I stopped going b/c I was afraid they'd be infected with viruses b/c of their out of date design.
