Car negotiation

Is it still possible to negotiate on a certified pre-owned vehicle?

Dh and I are going to look at a current year model with under 3k miles today. It's already around 5k off list price. I'm assuming we could still negotiate though?

Also, is there anything else we should know about getting a cpo vehicle? We checked the car fax, and plan on changing the oil when we get the car. We would also buy the extended warranty, which would last for 7 years/100k miles.

Car negotiation

I would not purchase a used car without having an independent mechanic look at it first. Be wary with car fax. I had a lease that I had a minor accident with the year before I gave it back. The accident was reported to insurance and was about 5k in damage. A year later, the car fax was clean- no accidents.

ETA: I believe the dealership we gave it back to was selling it as a CPO.

Re: Car negotiation

My truck is a CPO
It had just over 30k miles when I got it in 2010 (it's a 2006 jeep)
We negotiated. Everything is negotiable. With what you are looking at being SO new, it can be a harder battle (bc it should go quickly) but they will bend some for the sale

Thanks everyone. They only came down $200, which I laughed at. We're not in any real rush, so we're going to just keep our eye out for a deal that works for us. They happen to have redesigned the car for 2017, so I'm assuming once those come out I'll see more price drops.

Good idea

$200 is a smack in the face. I hope it sits for a while now!!
