Food advice needed....
So as I said in an earlier post, my father passed away on Tuesday. As soon as his cremains are ready we will be burying him in Calverton and have a celebration of life at a firehouse. He was an avid bar goer and has many "friends" who would show up. Our family alone, if everyone shows is about 60 people. Alot of friends want to show support. Now my question is, how much food do we order?? If everyone shows up, which I doubt, but if, what do we do? Anyone have experience with this?
Also wine and beer is fine...right? Or no? I have no idea. It is not a perty but he was loved by A LOT of people.

people will bring a lot of food, i would suspect. you are grieving, that is what they do. i'd have a couple of heros and drinks. because people will bring so much food but maybe not drinks. so just have a stock of drinks and dont worry too much about the rest!!

I am so sorry for your loss. A few years ago I attended a "celebration of life" event for my boss' wife who passed away. He rented a room and had drinks and appetizer-type food available. I would think beer/wine would be fine.

I don't think people will bring food because it's not being held at your home. My advice would be to get a hero and salads enough to feed the 60 people. I also think wine and beer are fine too. Just make sure you have some water and soda for those that don't drink.

Re: Food advice needed....
We went to a celebration of life for my BIL's grandfather about a month ago. It was held at a local firehouse where his grandfather was a member for over 51 years. They had trays of hot food and salads and cookies out for everyone and then an open bar. To be honest, the open bar wasn't necessary at all and I think beer and wine would have been fine. But the hot food (especially since it was in the evening after the funeral service) was very nice.
