Does anyone do their own taxes?
We have never done it ourselves but I cringe at the thought of paying almost $300 to have my taxes done. Does anyone ave any suggestions? What do you use? Do you refer to the prior years taxes to help plug in the right information? Thanks for the help!

Does anyone do their own taxes?
My husband and I do our own taxes. We use Turbo Tax. Yes, take last year's return and use it for reference. The program walks you through it step by step. It's actually pretty easy.

If your taxes are straight forward, there's no reason to go to someone. We also use turbo tax.

If they are straight forward you can/should definitely do them yourself. It's really not complicated. Turbo tax makes it very simple. Follow SALY (same as last year) as a guide. I've ran into miscalculations in the past with sale of stock/securities on turbo tax. Could've just been a bug, but I always double check the math at the end.

We use Turbo Tax and e-file. Very easy and Turbo Tax walks you through every step and does error checks at the end.

Yes. I'm a CPA though, can't imagine going to someone else to do my taxes even though I don't do tax at all for my job.

We do ours with Turbo Tax. One year we did have an accountant do them and we also did them at home on Turbo Tax just to compare if the accountant could get us any extra money back - they came out the same, so we decided its not worth it to have someone else do them for us.

I use turbo tax. I was an accountant. My dad is a semi-retired accountant. My dad had an issue one year on his state tax return with college tuition, which I found for him.
Turbo tax walks you through everything. My sister, with no finance/accounting background also uses turbo tax.

We used Turbo Tax for many years, then switched to H&R Block software which I found much cheaper and just as easy. We only have W-2s, a mortgage, some charitable donations, and random 1099s, so there is no need for professional help.

TurboTax makes it so easy. And you can do the whole thing without paying so if after doing it you feel unsure, you don't have to use it. Definitely worth trying. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

DH has done it always- even when he was working and itemizing deductions.
He uses Turbo Tax
Never an issue

We do better using an accountant , the guy we see specializes in doing taxes for people who have my husband's job (and by default of that he knows a lot about my job) so he knows what deductions we are entitled too , some we would never think of.

we did the same one year and also got similar results from both, so we are back to turbo tax. much cheaper!
