How many paid vacation days to you get per year? and how long have you been working this this firm?

everyone in my firm has the same vacation policy, now matter what your position is. 1 - 4 years you get 2 weeks, the 5th year you get 3 weeks, and after 10 years you get 4 weeks. That's the max

Executive asst starts with 15 vaca days, accrues 1 day a year for 5 years so can end up with 20 days.
The admin asst starts with 10 days, same deal, ends up with 15.

I get 3 weeks. Others have 4 if they negotiated when they started, or if that's what they had with their prior company. I thought I earned another day every year but they keep making changes so I don't think I do anymore. I've been here almost 10 years.

Same for my job. Although I don't know at what point it increases.

My last firm we started with 5 weeks TOTAL PTO. (That included sick days) - I was there 6 years, but that meant nothing. Everyone in the firm started out with that same amount (International Bank)
My current firm (International Bank), I have 3 weeks vaca, and 2 Personal days, Unlimited sick. I'm here almost 3 years.

Everyone starts with 2 weeks and you get 1 day for every 2 years.
2 sick/personal a year which sucks.

I get 17 vacation plus one floater and 10 sick days and that is day of hire to 10 years. At ten years you get 5 more days.

Thanks everyone. I have worked for the same company for 13 years - small company just me and the owners who are now divorced. When I started working for them I got 10 days vacation and now 13 years later I am asking them to increase these days. One of the owners has responded that I should get 20 days and the other 13!!!! so we are words apart. How to respond?

Counter offer with 18 days and expect to go as low as 15?

I'd do some industry research on vacation policies if possible, and try to find articles that support 20 days :) it's all in the spin. :)

See the problem is that one of the owners did her research and came up with 20 and the other one thinks its excessive and not in line with US standards!! I have searched online and read the replies on here so thought 20 seemed right but I am kind of at their mercy as the job is super flexible as I work from home so I don't want to go hardball either as I need to keep THIS job as it works so well for my life as a mom. I just wish I could get the 13 number guy up but he is pretty strong in his convictions!!
