Winning Powerball ticket sold in California
As per ABC News:
"The winning Powerball numbers were drawn Wednesday night: 8, 27, 34, 4, 19 and the Powerball of 10.
California lotto officials tweeted almost immediately after that a winning ticket was sold in the state, although it was still not clear if other winning tickets were sold.
The state also tweeted that it sold 12 tickets that matched five of the six numbers.
California lottery officials said the winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven on Chino Hills Parkway.
The jackpot, which reached record levels after 20 drawings without a winner, was estimated to be nearly $1.6 billion. According to the Texas Lottery, the cash equivalent was $983.5 million.
This Powerball jackpot first started at $40 million on Nov. 7, 2015.
According to Texas lottery officials earlier today, there was an 85.8 percent of the possible number combinations had been sold."

Winning Powerball ticket sold in California
There were several winners from NY and NJ that had five numbers no powerball so I think they won $1 million each

Re: Winning Powerball ticket sold in California
How could there be 3 winning tickets for the 1.6 billions? I thought only one ticket (one single set of numbers) could be the winner?!?

Re: Winning Powerball ticket sold in California
if 20 tickets all have the winning numbers then they all split it.

Ohh I see, so there are duplicates! I thought that every ticket had its own set of numbers, don't ask me how though

Not possible since people are able to pick their own numbers, too.
When Lost (the TV show) was popular, a lot of people played the numbers in the show (and I think it even hit once) but then they all had to share the winnings.

It was pretty recent! And it was one of the few times I didn't play the numbers! But it wasn't the full jackpot anyway, and like you said, was split many ways.

No $hit!!! I use to go to that 7-11 ALL the time when I was growing up in N. Massapequa. I wonder if it's anyone I know from the area who won!!

I have, but not many times. The lotto from my country does not duplicate numbers.
