Bonus-updates
There was a post earlier this week about receiving a year end bonus. I just received mine (same as every year-yay) but I also received an email from my boss which made my YEAR! If you are someone's employer, send out an email like the one I just relieved- it will go a LONG way!
Just part of the email:
"I want to take a moment to thank you for your hard work and dedication during the past year. I'm not always the best at expressing my appreciation but I do recognize that you work very hard and care about the job that you do."

That is an excellent email. I think all employers would do well to foster better employee relations by sending out something along those lines.

Thats so nice to be appreciated. It motivates people to work even harder. No bonus here , nor a luncheon or party, or heck even a Thank you jackass - nada, zilch, zippo.....

Yes and when you're on vacation they call you for every little thing. I work in a male dominant industry and a bunch of them went out for lunch. Not even a hey would you like a cup of coffee, sandwich etc....So classless.

My boss sent that out at thanksgiving. I work for a company that is more thankful then other companies I have worked for.

it really does go a long way. I gave out little treats to my coworkers in my NJ office, and the people i work with in NYC office. I don't venture into the NYC office often at all, but work with these folks every day in some capacity.
one of the girls emailed me thanking me for the little treats and that my patience and dedication is gift enough. It was that kind little email that made my day.. mostly b/c my NYC coworkers are really down right now ...short staffed, over worked etc.
