when do you have to use PTO

my company makes us take all our PTO time before the end of the year and we are not allowed to take days/weeks after November.

They wont let us carry time over to the new year.

Anyone else have to use PTO time now

Not now but before our year end I do. But I think we can carry over 10% of days which is like 2.5 days. We also HAVE to use 3 PTO days Christmas week..

Sick and personal days refresh on December 5th and we are not allowed to carry those over. Vacation days refresh on January 1 and we are allowed to carry over up to 10 days.

Sick and personal needs to be taken by End of Year, they are use them or lose them. Those do not accrue and we are given them up front at the start of every year.

Vacation is accrued, so you arent even DONE accruing until the last calculated pay week in Dec. Therefore, we can carry over up to 5 days but they have to be used by March 31st.

We have a similar policy and that is why I usually wind up losing a couple of days every year. We can technically take off in Nov/Dec but it gets so busy here that it's really hard to find the time. Still I like to have a day or two available in case of an emergency or if one of my kids get sick.

We get 2 personal days that do not roll over- so if we haven't used them yet, we have to use them now or lose them.

I always try to use them first- before vacation days- since vacation and sick days roll over

Our PTO calendar runs September 1 - August 31. If we do not use all of our vacation and personal time by August 31 we lose it.

Our sick/personal time gets added in January (7- 11 days, depending on how long you've been with the company). We can carry over up to 10 days.

We accrue vacation time for the hours we work and can have up to 30 days banked at a time.

ETA: We can take personal time whenever we want EXCEPT you can't take a personal day after a vacation day without a good reason.

we have to use everything before the end of the year. but as long as we are not need on certain days for a project we can take them whenever.

we get 10 sick days and I very rarely use them there is no need for me too so I usually loose them every year.

I personally wish they would just have one big category of PTO rather than a certain amount of vacation, personal and sick days.

No clue LOL this new company I work for seems pretty flexible in that area, but I know I have 2 weeks PTO and 4 sick days per year and they reset on your anniversary.

DH is use it or lose it - his boss also purposely limits my DH's time and pays him out at the end of year instead.

We have to use our days by 12/31- the only stipulation is that we can not use them the day before/after a holiday. We forfeit the paid holiday if we do this. We have 7 paid days to use how we wish, and they are given to each employee on 1/1.

With DH, he has to use them up by 12/31. This is accrued time, and I believe it works out to be 12-14 days a year total.

We can carry over 15 PTO days a year (ending on 12/31). If you have more at that point, you lose them.

we can't carry any days over, but we get paid for up to 10 unused PTOs.

We can over our max +10. So I get 30 days pto so I can carry over 40 but then it stops accruing till days are used.

We can carry over 8 days and get paid for up to 5, anything beyond that is lost if not used by the end of the year. We don't have separate sick, personal and vacation, just one big bank of days to use however.

We can can bank 2x what our vacation allowance is. If you get 3 weeks you can bank up to 6 weeks indefinitely. If you end up banking more than 2x your allowance it is converted to sick time on June 30th.

DH company allows them to carry over 2 weeks of PTO time every year. He can use his PTO time whenever he wants from January thru December, there are no restrictions.

ETA - They did away with "sick days" a few years ago and refer to ANY time off, sick day or otherwise, as PTO time. When they did that, they added 4 days to everyone's PTO bank in addition to whatever "vacation time" they've earned to compensate for "sick days".

Our fiscal year ends in October so we have to use all of our PTO by the end of September. If you have a trip planned in October or November you can request an extension with the dates you plan to use your time, but you have to give a letter in writing to be granted an extension.

We accrue so we have not date to use by. But we max out and stop accruing at 300 hrs.

We can carry over up to 40 hours PTO but it has to be used by the end of the first quarter the following year.

Sick I can continue to accrue. If I don't use personal or floating holiday by my anniversary date they role to sick. We can carry as much sick as we want. Vacation I can roll 2 weeks on my anniversary date I et 4 weeks vacation a year 12 sick day 3 personal and 5 floating holiday

We have unlimited PTO, so there is no policy around when to use them. I think we get 5 sick days which don't accrue.
